Possible Lockout for the NFL during the 2021 season?

One million percent correct. The players generate billions. The want a piece of that and so do the owners. Why is it only the players get called greedy. The owners equally share the “greedy” title but only the players get labeled that.
The common man says “I wish I got paid 2 million a year” and I get that. But this is a capitalistic society. No one bitches Oprah is a billionaire for “talking on TV”. No one bitches Will Ferrell make 12 million a flick (and the dude isn’t even funny). But some reason we are only pissed at athletes. Never understood why?

As for the “violence” the players can take out insurance policies if they are worried about getting hurt. That solves the “guaranteed money” issue.

If football players want fully guaranteed contracts then teams simply can’t pay them as much. Why? Because if the team gives a player a big guaranteed contract and he can’t perform then they are fucked under the cap.

These aren’t complex issues but I’m not surprised you can’t grasp them

NFL is a weird dynamic...the minority (the star players) have the loudest voice, but the smallest headcount when it comes to voting. The players killed or certainly weakened the middle class when they cut the rookie contracts...the top players are and always have been the best paid. The gap is wider now, but rookie contract players are pushing mid level vets out the door early or play for vet league minimum.

That is so not true.

Lessening the rookie contracts was the best thing the NFLPA has done for the average football player.

There is a ton more money available for the average NFL player.

In 2010 NFL QB's were starting to approach the $20 million a year level. Top paid position players were in the $12-16m range.

Since then the cap has jumped some $60 million a year. Rookie contracts have held steady. And top players aren't making up a ton more than they were back then. They have essentially doubled the middle class pay scale on this current cba....probably more depending on how you define middle class.

There has to be a way around it. I get why you’re saying but the player has ALL the risk. It should be spread out more equally. Both sides take some risk. Maybe they can amend the cap for injured players. Like the player gets the guaranteed money but it doesn’t count against the cap. I don’t know but Jerry Jone (for example) has made over 4 billion alone in just the value of the team not to mention 50 something players get 48% of the money and Jerry alone gets 52% or more then every player on the team combined each and every year. There is more then enough money rolling in to take care of both sides.
But I’m just saying it shouldn’t be looked at as the players being greedy nor the owners. That how our system I’m this country works and it seems like too many people think, “Don’t you dare complain. Take what the owner says and if you don’t like it, too bad”

Many football players aren’t millionaires. They play a brutal sport and we don’t give a shit about their lives just as long as they entertain us. It’s a business. In business there are negotiations. It sucks as fans but the players have the right to negotiate a fair deal. Both sides have that right and I don’t understand why people only support the owners rights.
