Funny thing is “tanking” guarantees nothing. Really no point to it at all so that’s good for the NBA.

Sure seemed like Zion was a little less than enthused with the Pelicans getting the #1 pick. I'm sure he was anticipating the Knicks and Durant/Kyrie with all the rumors.

Bringing up that they have AD (who has wanted out to this point) isn't exactly a selling point. Their last #1 doesn't want to be there. Maybe this helps them convince AD to stay. However, do they fit together? IMO what the Pelicans really need is a wing scorer. That in no way means they skip on Zion, but maybe changes what they want in return for AD (if still trading him).
They just said on ESPN 710 AM a few minutes ago that AD still wants to be traded period

Some thoughts now that the game is over and I can focus more on this lottery outcome:

-Tonight functioned exactly how the NBA envisioned when they changed the lottery structure last year to curb tanking. The shortened the odds up top and increased the number of teams from 3 to 4. The idea was this would discourage teams from tanking for a top pick because the old way, it absolutely benefited you to tank. The result tonight? 3 teams leaped up into the top 4. The Lakers had the 11th best odds. Memphis and NO were like 8th and 9th I think (might not be right. You can look it up. They were in the middle is the point). Now that might not happen every year, but it shows the odds are favorable enough to where a team shouldn't have to be downright awful to have a chance to move up. This will change things.

-New Orleans basically won the lottery twice. Not only did they get Zion but they are now back in the driver's seat in the Anthony Davis situation. They have something to pitch to him to try to get him to stay (which would be my 1st priority). But now they have something in place if he still wants to leave and the way the rest of the lottery shook out, two of Davis' rumored favored landing spots also have lotto picks which makes making deals more attractive which leads me to...

-Hold off on laughing at NY just yet. If Davis still 100% says he's gone, the Knicks still have pieces to trade for him. #3 (likely RJ Barrett), Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith JR, and the picks from the Porzingis trade would be a very nice rebuilding package to pair with Zion. The Pels are also gonna have cap space as well. So NY could still very much be in play for that rumored Kyrie/KD/AD scenario. It's similar for the Lakers as well. The #4 pick has enough value to where you can add it to the package from back in February and its enough to where a franchise won't feel that big of a sting losing Davis and its all because Zion is there now

-Oof Chicago. That's gotta suck.

If the Lakers are smart, they can actually trade back in the draft to a team who wants a top 5 pick

Like to Washington in a Beal trade. Swap the picks (4 for 9), send some of the young players for Beal. Not likely to happen before the draft though. The pick has too much value in a potential AD trade, which they'll pursue first. But if they strike out, its something to keep an eye on for later in the summer where instead they just end up swapping the players they drafted.

Which is why the Lakers should draft the best TALENT available at #4, regardless of fit. Maximize the value, figure out the fit later. They're gonna have to reshape the roster later on anyway. So if the best talent is Garland, get him. Who gives a fuck if you've got Lonzo currently

The fact that the NBA doesn’t do it straight up like the NFL gves them some wiggle room to make things happen. I’m not saying it’s fixed but it’s weird AF

Yep, they don't have to fix it to make things weird and shake things up. They can just make the rules kind of odd and random. Randomness = chaos = interesting. NFL too predictable, too easy to know for months who's getting the #1-3

I will except is 9 years - He can't count - He is adding one to the count because the count started at zero - what he is forgetting is at zero (2010) is where the Last championship happened. It's been 9 years since our last title - Could be he has down syndrome - That would explain a lot:D

It's too weird to be real, right? Like that had to be a troll not what he really thought numbers worked like...

That was why they made it weird. Fuck the Process man.

I think he is like Hurricane and Wiggy - All three of them are obviously trolls and not really intelligent people in real life. I bet none them earn more then $15 per hour. So the only real life they have is to simply make shit up and see who they can get upset. The only thing is that Hurricane really does know basketball when he isn't talking stupid for the fun it. He knows no one likes him, so he likes to antagonize them and make them believe he believes what he says. I've seen those kind before and what they have is mental disorders that prevents them from having an intelligent conversation in real life which pretty much describes 90% of the posters in the politics room:lol:

Either way, the Lakers won the second of two championships in three trips to the finals and Cavaliers have been there twice and won one. I haven't looked at the numbers lately, but I think by now the Warriors may have the third highest total of NBA Champions behind the Celtics and the Lakers with 6 - which is tied with the Bulls. A win this year will put them at 7 behind the Celtics with 17 and the Lakers with 16

LOL they would never.

You basically locked in to having Zion for 7 years. You don't pass that up

If the Lakers are drafting for need, they should trade back and draft Bol Bol IMO.

They need a C badly

I owuld rather have 1 recent than a bunch from like 20 years ago...The 1 already feels old so your last one a decade ago you probably can't even remember. Plus, weren't like 6 of those won in Minnesota lol

From the time I started watching the NBA as a child (Magic's rookie year), I've experienced 10 of them. The Showtime championships are getting a little fuzzy for details, sure.

Agree.

But, we don't know what will happen with them in Free Agency.

If Kyrie bolts, why bother?

It would be tough to keep him for more than a year.

The Knicks are my bet.

If they think they have a shot at Durant and/or Kyrie...

They might give up the farm...

Even if the stock is less desirable.

Agreed. #3/DSJ/Knox is solid competition for the Lakers offer, plus you get AD out of the conference.

I think Bol Bol might be the 4th best player in the draft anyway.

He’d be right there if he didn’t get hurt imo
