The fact that they're leaving Starbucks cups in scenes, AND not catching it during editing proves the show runners don't give a shit anymore.
It's a lot easier to adapt an existing piece of writing to a television show than writing scenes and plot anew. Part of it might be that the show is getting old and stale, but a great deal of it is that none of this plot is original to anything other than the HBO series.

Think about the differences between the Peter Jackson LOTR series and then the Peter Jackson Hobbit series that followed. LOTR was immense, and no one denies that Jackson did a great job making that universe come to life- even having to pare down some of the plot. But the Hobbit was little more than a short story and the producers and writers had to develop whole backstories, scenes and dialogue for characters that previously might have just been part of a list. So LOTR goes down as one of the best fantasy or scifi movie series of all time, while the Hobbit is, at best, an overrated and bloated piece of crap.

Still though. Coffee cups?

I don't think I ever knew bastards from the Westerlands were called "Hill."

Little known fact, Hank Hill is a Westerlandern bastard.

Seems like everyone has a gripe or two.
Meh. People have expectations. The show is going away, and some want a good ending, or at least something on par with what they've seen the previous 7 seasons. Taking such a long break in-between seasons and then coming back with only 6 episodes isn't very endearing to fans, let alone technical snafus like a highly touted penultimate battle that may as well take place in pitch blackness.

And yet I like the Hobbit better. But of course I never read any of the books and only watched LOTR for the first time right before the Hobbit movies because supernerds were finally starting to shut the fuck about it.

Interesting. I think you are the exception.

Oh trust me I know, I think LOTR is one the most overhyped things in existence. People always talk about things like GOT, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, etc where they are overhyped to all hell and then you watch them and they aren't as amazing as people told you they were but for me personally that's never been more true of LOTR.

I know a lot of people who didn't read the books and definitely liked LOTR over the Hobbit. Certainly people who did read the LOTR appreciated the movie more for it's fantastic recreation.

There are also plenty of people who can't stand either. It's not for everybody.

Yeah maybe if GoT has ever had the balls to kill of a white male character, then people might not find it so racist when a female of color gets killed off. :L
Stannis was pretty damn white.

Actually, the majority of major characters that have been killed off have been white.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is happy they didn't make the Jaime Lannister and Brienne sex scene graphic. Seeing some 7 foot woman with more testosterone than Ray Lewis have sex would probably give me PTSD.

On the other hand, I have to admit I have a sick interest in how a Tyrion and Sansa sex scene would play out. That's probably just because I want to see Sansa naked.

Yeah, one is larger and an entirely different color...

Scrolling through this thread makes me realize I must be a casual fan considering I didn't know people actually differentiated between the dragons.

I suppose that stems from the fact that I never read the books.
