I'm one of the few who will admit I don't have the first clue how to scout a college QB and know who will succeed in the NFL (hell, guys who get paid a ton miss a lot on QBs). I figured they'd go Darnold and Chubb as that seemed to be the consensus. all I wanted at 1 was identify the QB they like the most and grab him.

Ward was a surprise but made sense as CB was a far greater position of need.

I pay little attention to what college scouts have to say. How many times has one of them said this player or that player are can't miss type players then do next to nothing in the NFL?

Just a few off the top of my head. Rick Mirer (hyped as the next Montana:pound:). And not to pick on N.D. but Brady Quinn. Ryan Leaf is another one. Ki-Jana Carter. The list is almost endless.

Might be....but if he was on a rookie deal would they have moved him?

Perhaps...perhaps not, but it too was a factor. A lot of money for a guy they deemed as expendable.

He might not be as bad as Brown, but that doesn't mean he's this team oriented/Larry Fitzgerald type of guy out there. The Giants traded him for a few reasons....and I would definitely say getting rid of his presence in the lockerroom was one factor.

Not even close to ABrown, a huge difference. You’re right, he isnt’t Fitzy but who is? I think if he wouldnt have been traded now though he would have spent his entire career in New York, that’s dedicated he was to New York. Dont be fooled fooled by the media. The reason we know ABrown is as crazy as he is bc of those interviews, that dude is a nutcase.

as I think I've mentioned, ESPN could pretty much convince fans of anything they want before the draft. Show a few highlights of him and they could get fans thinking Mike Weber should have been no worse than a late 1st.

OK, but you get he's expendable because they are going nowhere, right? Doubtful if they thought they were a legit contender they dump their best WR. quite possible they are tanking and feel like they can compete again he will be a little less of a player AND way too much money.

And for the record, obviously, I know Browns fans are excited, but they are not actual SB favorites anywhere.

I get what you are saying and don't necessarily disagree but where would they be at this point other than Vegas?

I tend to tune out those NFL talking heads on ESPN. Who wins a fight between Mel Kiper, Jr. & Todd McShay?

I'm not fooled one bit. It's just obvious that the Giants trading of a generational-type talent is simply more than 'getting rid of a big contract' or 'trying to improve the team via talent.'

I'll listen but take them for what they are worth.

Funniest thing to me is when fans call a pick a reach because some guy who doesn't run a draft GUESSED a player would have gone later. Seems more reasonable (or at least just as likely) to think the guys who guess got it wrong.

I think Occam's razor isn't that OBJ is a diva, just that Gettleman is an idiot.

If they were 10-6 and went to the playoffs last season do you think they'd have moved him?

My point is, even in Vegas, they are currently tied for the 5th place on SB favorites per the odds. New England is the favorite, followed by the Chiefs, Rams and Saints.

I don't know. What I do know is if that scenario played out, OBJ woulda spent some time in Florida or somewhere on a boat before that playoff game....and the fact that the Giants are using up $16 million dollars in their salary cap this year for OBJ to play for the Browns.

Since there is a Kareem Hunt post in this thread, I feel obligated to state this: RBs Don't Matter

Of course we don't "know". It's a hypothetical. Irrational people avoid answering direct questions.

I say they'd keep him. What say you?

They definitely have a lot of young Talent. Their ceiling seems to be high but will they reach it and when?

Dorsey is notoriously horrible with the cap so at some point they are going to find themselves having to get rid of a lot of players

I'm a lifelong Browns fan, and this is the most anticipated season since the 80's when were in playing AFC Championships against Denver, but I would be happy if they just won the division or made the wildcard. Not sure they could get past New England or the Chiefs if they did, but those are the only 2 teams in the AFC they need to worry about, if they are as good as advertised.

Like Cubs fans did every year when they used to suck, Browns fans must betting like crazy on the Browns to make it or win it all, pushing the S/B odds beyond where they should be. I'm tempted to bet against them, hedge my emotions, and usual disappointment.

Just saw on one site that the Browns have better S/B odds than the Colts, Eagles, and Steelers. Same odds as the 12-4 Bears and Chargers. Hilarious!

I do have to say they've never had this much young talent. They finally found the right decision guy in Dorsey. He's made all the right moves, so far. The 2019 season could not come any sooner.
I have a brother in law from Cleveland and I respect the loyalty of that fanbase considering what they have been through the last 2 decades. But let's pump the brakes a little here and not coronate them just yet. I think the AFC comes down to Pats, Chargers, or Colts. (I would have the Chiefs here but I'm expecting the usual sophomore slump from a young qb, on top of losing Tyreek and Kareem there is going to be a back slide of sorts.) Cleveland should definitely win their division no doubt, but it probably ends there. If I was a Browns fan I would consider a playoff birth a success and if you can maybe get one playoff win I would be ecstatic.

Yep, you need to get to the playoffs and win some games even if you don't make it very far it's how a young team develops and grows up ... Calling out a Super Bowl trip is asking to much ...

There's nothing irrational here. There is an irrelevant hypothetical scenario that means little to the point at hand. The Giants clearly moved on from OBJ, and his personality within that lockerroom was a factor. It's not debatable.

what's not debatable is you are refusing to answer a pretty simple hypothetical question, which is what an irrational person would do. If I make it multiple choice or true/false would you answer and not dodge?

Giants would still have moved OBJ had they gone 10-6 and been considered a strong playoff contender this year....
A) True
B) False

yes, we get where they are - tanking - they have no need for a WR among the top paid in the NFL.
