hes a 2nd round pick, he wont be in jeopardy of not making the team. come on.

Yes he is a 2nd round pick and a physical freak so why not use those talents? Field the best team you can and win as much as you can right? Not trying this guy outside as a gunner is not try all options. He would be one of the biggest, Strongest gunners and fastest in the NFL lol.

What did he do? 27 reps on the bench press? That would be good for a Offensive lineman! If he was just a inch taller people would be talking about "TE" position switch.

This guys does some pretty good NFL related content and put this video out about a month ago. Good shit.

Wow... That video is great... Guy does a great job breaking down his play, abilities and potential... Looks like he could work out just fine... he definitely has the QB that can help him succeed.. I like his presence via our running game as well...

I think with a guy with his size, speed & athleticism, you give him 1 50/50 deep ball and 1 red zone lob every game. At least. You can take advantage of that ability ahead of refining his route running.
So im guessing you like the Ole Miss route tree?

Someone who was selected 1 pick from the 3rd round is labeled a bust already? LOL...

It was the last pick of the second round - - - so completely reasonable

Huh? It's irrelevant. The point was that despite needing some time to develop his route running, you can still take advantage of the size/strength/speed stuff right away on plays like the ones I mentioned.

I was just being a smart ass. I would want to know rhe reason why Ole Miss had such a small num of routes for him. Is that just OM offensive philosophy? With his body would moving him to TE in the future be a realistic move? I hope the young man does well.

I would be surprised by that, but seeing as this team completely wasted Jimmy Graham's talent by having him block more often than not I wouldnt put it past them.

Most college offenses just really are not that sophisticated. The talent gap between the top players and the average ones is so wide that you don't need to be all that complex to get guys open. Teams like Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, etc. have 10 wins most seasons just by getting off the bus. Players like DK Metcalf are far superior to about 90% of the opponents they'll line up against. "Run fast and jump high" is good enough to win most of the matchups. Why make it hard if it doesn't need to be?

It’s just going to be nice that Wilson can do a 3 step drop and actually see the WR.

That deep speed and size contributes to the rest of the WR corps, no matter what he ends up doing. He's going to significantly open up the middle of the field for the others.

Think about it, you can jam a small burner at the LOS, but who the fuck is going to sign up to jam Metcalf? He could make some DB's look incredibly foolish, because once he gets EVEN with a DB, he's gone. As the tape shows, he certainly can CATCH the deep ball.

So I expect, even if he only gets 25-30 balls, for there to be a LOT more room for Lockette/Moore/whomever else steps up in Baldwin's absence. Teams are going to keep a safety back with Metcalf lined up wide.

Yah I agree with basically everything. Keep his routes simple and he's a nightmare match up. I feel like Seattle's WRs don't run that complex of routes anyway (outside of Doug because he's a machine) so... just send him deep? A safety has to cover over the top in a # of instances because of Wilson's arm and the pure size of Metcalf.... I dunno. I hope Seattle doesn't try to get too crafty with the guy.

That said, to be an every down WR though he's gotta learn the playbook and do more then just go deep or curl routes. Hopefully Doug sticks around in the offseason to coach up Metcalf and Jennings... both need the route work.

I also like that Metcalf came to the interview without a shirt... it VERY much sends a message to the rest of the team that you can bring shit at the guy... "Hey man get off my back, I'm still learning!" Response: "Yah says the tough guy that interviewed without a shirt. Man up and get better, Nancy." If Metcalf doesn't improve and show some big play ability, I expect the locker room to turn on him asap, which IMO is a good thing. If you're going to come off as a cocky WR 1.x% body fat monster, you better back it up.

I think it's going to be a process. He starts out with the go. After a while, it's a comeback, which with the big cushion won't be hard for him to grokk at all. Now imagine a double pump by russ on the comeback, and how ridiculously wide open he gets on the double move.

Will he be even able to UNDERSTAND all the routes in the route tree after the simple Ole Miss playbook? Nope. But I think Wilson will have the juice to get the kid to stay to work on patterns, and put in extra work. At least I hope so. Certainly he isn't shy about putting in the work in the weight room.

Yah... hopefully RW and Tyler/Doug can keep the kid motivated towards improving.
