Well, Some Scouts had him off their draft boards, therefore the fall.
Some Scouts still liked his OVERALL potential.

A huge HIT or MISS type of player.

Let's make our thoughts/predictions in this thread dedicated to DK Metcalf.

With wr,s it' is matchups matter a lot ..and.if they get double teamed..then someone is out of position which...could be taken advantage of..if it happens to much

Why some teams win the 4th quarter
Adjustments

So someone to take pressure off lockett and baldwin..i will take it

They have not had this type of WR sense Sidney rice

I started picturing Metcalf Chasing down punts, Scary thought for a Punt returner. 4.3 40 at 240 pounds. How would you like to be a 5 foot 11 195-200 pound returner getting blown up by Kam Chancellor running at 4.3 speed not 4.6?

I bring this up because thats how he makes this team this year, Special teams play so i hope to god he goes all out. Then again they did carry ( LMAO ) Darboh for a whole season and he didn't even hardly play Special teams.

I can’t help but think of Mike Williams with this pick, except much faster and WAY stronger. Consider the ceiling with Hass/Williams, and I think Russ/DK become unstoppable. A good friend of mine is a Florida alum, took us to the swamp this year vs LSU, and he watched him a ton at Ol’ Miss. He said flat out, nobody could cover this guy; and that’s the SEC. I love the pick!

Well, if the rumor about Doug Baldwin being finished is true then Metcalf better ball out. We're going to need him to be special to replace DB's production. I hope he's up to it.

How can you be a potential first round pick but be off of some scouts' boards? Why did the guy fall?

Something here doesn't make sense, but I'm happy to finally have an absolute specimen big WR on the team.

Well AJ Brown dropped out of the 1st also. I think there was one real big red flag for Metcalf, injury. He did not show up as durable in college and there is no denying that. Metcalf has a lot of work ahead of him, i hope he makes the best of it. Still i hear other rumblings that it was his shuttle times which are not really that bad when you look at his 10 yard times of 1.3 or 1.4 sec. ( first 10 yards of the 40 ) that's pretty good. That is a foundation to build better quickness on just with better technique and that was something they didn't teach him much in College. They had a role for AJ and one for DK and thats just how they played them.

Anyway he is a major BOOM or bust player that is just a freak. Also You do not jump like he did with poor quickness normally. This tells me he just needs coaching up.

Nothing against the young man, but I will sum this up rather quickly.
Look like Tarzan, play like Jane.

I have measured expectations for year 1 just because that's usually the way it goes. Steep learning curve at the WR position from college to pro, and he'll be behind a handful of other players in the offensive pecking order. I think he may have decent TD numbers for red zone opportunities, but I don't expect much more than 500 yds.

Drop makes sense... he had an injury in 2016 and a neck injury in 2018. He was a one trick pony in College (run streak routes - the guy averaged like 22+ yards per catch his senior year), but Seattle seemed to throw a lot of deep balls last year.

If the Seahawks can work with him and maybe get some mentorship from Doug and learn route running and get more fluidity he could be an absolute steal. He's an athletic LONG freak. 4.33, 30 bench presses, 6'3" 228 lbs? He's like Julio Jones but doesn't have the skillset Jones did. If he can develop some then it could be the steal of the draft.

He's also just a size matchup, but I assume the routes he'll be running in 2018 will be VERY basic/predictable, which may not get him a lot of looks. But who knows. When you're 6'3" and 228 lbs, have a 40" vert, and 10" hands... balls tend to come your way.

I think with a guy with his size, speed & athleticism, you give him 1 50/50 deep ball and 1 red zone lob every game. At least. You can take advantage of that ability ahead of refining his route running.

I 100% agree. Just send him on a simple route, if it's 1/1 chuck the ball. He's too dangerous for defenses to ignore and at 230 lbs 6'3" with a 41" vert? Not many DBs are going to bully him around. I'm also curious to see how well he'll block. 30 bench reps from a receiver? Jesus Christ.

But yah, he's a dime end zone threat and 100% a deep threat you have to account for. Wilson easily has the arm to get it to him and put it in spots that will help Metcalf. It seems like Seattle doesn't really have their wideouts run that complex of routes anyway...

I love that everyone is saying because he can't run routes (for now) there's no need for a 6'3" 230 lb, 4.33, 10" hand, 41" vert, 33 bench press WR with a chip on his shoulder. Right...

Metcalf is a good fit for the Seahawks offensive system. They like to pound the ball, pound the ball, then go long. A deep threat like Like DK will stretch the defense which will help the run game. Then if the run game is clicking it will give one on one opportunities to Lockett and DK. DK is big enough to help with blocking down field on run plays also. A lot of his value may not show up in stat column per say.
Also I can see the Seahawks using him in the red zone like they did Graham.

I disagree completely. with his neck injury, if its real, playing him at gunner would be idiotic.

thats only because you have a knee jerk reaction because of Lockettes injury. From what i have heard there is not one issue with his neck. If you play scared then you shouldn't be playing. It's that simple.
