I think the NK really wants two things. 3ER, and Baby Sam. That baby was promised to him, and he wants it. And I'm not sure how that's going to go.

And I think she gets a notch or two in the battle.

what a great part and the young lady playing the part has crushed it. but because of that, i expect her to die a horrible death on the battlefield in plain view of most.

there are going to be some very bad moments and she is the perfect character to publicly torture to demoralize humans.

something gross that ends with the NK holding her lifeless body in the air by the throat for all of winterfell to see. and then he turns her in front of them to mess with their minds even more as they realize she now has joined the battle against man. something like that.

seeing her in interviews and whatnot, I wouldn't put it past her wanting to do a nude scene.

Hardhome shows it doesn't take long at all.

The whole strategy is about breaking through the lines and taking out the lieutenants and the General.

If you are the NK, how do you handle which WW makes the wights?

Do you spread the wealth around or do you only allow a few to make them and leave them north of the wall....

I like that Sam gave his family sword to someone who can actually use it effectively.

I think that insulates Jorah at least long enough to give it back to Sam after the battle.

And he's certain to use it in some critical moment now.

We started watching her as a 12 or 13 year old. And she doesn't look much different now.

What most fans wanted:

An extended and likely poignant scene of Arya with the hound coming full circle after spending multiple episodes together having built one of the more unique arcs of two character. Instead, we got about 15 seconds aborted by the arrival of 3rd tier character Beric.

What most fans did not want:

An extended creepy scene of childlike Arya suddenly wanting to get laid by someone she barely knew back when she appeared to be about 10 years old. We got the full creepiness along with some cringeworthy dialogue lines, and then we got a bedside epilogue as well later on just in case we hated it the first time.

The whole think with Arya getting laid was an intentional scene to show that she was grown up.

I actually thought Dany was going to make Sansa the Hand of the Queen.
In an effort to curb Dany's worst impulses, Tyrion has lost his ruthlessness that Sansa now has in spades.

I'm a bit worried that the writers aren't sure how to wrap this up.
Two episodes of reunions and no mention of what's in the crypts, how to use the dragons, anything from Sam's scrolls, etc.
We got Bran telling us that the NK is coming for him to bring an eternal winter.
At that point, why not just take Bran to King's Landing????

They want to end the war here. Taking the war to kings landing creates a far larger army of the dead.

ep 2 was way too slow. hbo was making bank so they stretched the series out for one more season and it shows. ep1 and 2 could have easily been combined, but instead, i get two episodes of victory laps for the actors.

In the light of day, this is how I feel about 8-1 and 8-2... I got some good chuckles at the character interaction, but yeah... Delete the "magic dragon ride" scene, extend 8-1 out to an hour and a half and combine the two...

As Bran put it, "We don't have time for this...".

I thought it was a good episode to prep us for the 3rd episode, which will bring the fucking house down. We all know what is coming, but this isn't some Dragon Ball Z shit where there are 5 episodes building up to a single fight.

E1 - they reintroduce characters and let you know where their stories are
E2 - some reunions and some "hey remember how much we like each other or used to be enemies and now we are all on the same team?
E3 - kill everyone.

I'm surprised that people that the 1st 2 episodes could have been boiled down into 1. IMO, they were TOO swift with this build-up. Jon riding a dragon should have been a much more impactful event for both Job and for Dany. Some more back story from Bran about what is happening would have been great.

Not that I think it was necessary but shortening it to 1 episode would have been terrible. The whole point of this episode is remind the viewer how much they care about the various characters because a bunch of them, including characters that have been with us from the very beginning, are likely to die in the next episode

Every living character that viewers care about, except Bronn, is about to face an existential fight. Many, most even, will likely not survive next Sunday night. I think it was a great idea to humanize them one more time before this great fight.

The implication has always been, as long as the Other is "living" so are its creations. The wights can be dang near anywhere and can be destroyed individually, or en masse if you take out the Other that created him/her.

For example, when Jojen was killed by the wights handing outside of the 3ER cave, they had been there so long they were under the snow but animated when their mission arose. There was no Other anywhere in close proximity at the time.
