If you just subtract KD from the lineup?

You are correct.

But they would have signed other pieces in KD's place that might have fit the Warrior system better and still made them the team to beat.

A lot of variables out there and no way to know what the extra pieces would have been and how well they would have done.

Bingo. KD is good enough they have found a way to make it work. But they aren't as dominant as if they had a 2nd tier player who actually fits the GS system.

They were still right there at the cap limit without KD. Not one or two pieces comes close to KD at that price. Either way it’s dumb thinking Zion is a better fit than KD. (You didnt say this some other idiot did lol) KD is an elite shooter, that can create his own shot and we havent seen Zion in the NBA. I’m sure Zion will be great but either way without KD the Warrriors MOST LIKELY arent going for a 3 peat.

Well, in 2016 they had enough cap space to sign Kevin Durant. You can't go over the cap to sign a free agent off somebody else's roster. They would have used that cap space differently. Perhaps to resign Harrison Barnes, perhaps not.

And you are right. I don't think Zion fits the Warriors better than KD. They are different pieces all together.

But, that said, if the Warriors could trade KD and Dray for Zion this summer (obviously they can't) they would do it in a heart beat. Because Zion on a rookie deal is a crazy value for a team with 2 established stars. And I think Zion could be like a super Draymond for them.

If they faced another unrealistic scenario where they had to choose between KD and Zion, I think they pick Zion and trade Draymond for some quality 3 and D guys.

While KD brought 2 rings and likely a 3rd, he seems like he has checked out mentally to me. Maybe I am wrong and he probably reengages come playoff time, but that is what it looks like to me when I watch the Warriors play this season.

And again, I say this not because Zion is better than KD. He isn't. But he wouldn't offer year to year stability that they have lacked since KD started signing 1 and 1s and he offers a future building block capable of also keeping the current run going after KD inevitably leaves.

Not as dominant? lol with KD they have easily the best offense of all-time. Actually Houston with Harden and CP3 were up there last year, also one of the best offenses of all-time. Zion is going to be a great, I think, but I really don't think you realize how dynamic KD makes this offense. When Steph is off the floor they have the 2nd best player in the world taking over. Zion would have a great rookie contract but he doesn't fit GS better. GS isn't exactly playing the greatest this season but it's like you are erasing the past two seasons out of your memory. GS had one of the greatest teams of all-time before KD, but they had the greatest team with him. He might be a pussy for going to GS but he is still one of the greatest players of all-time.

Well of course he has checked out. He is bored. The point is was Fordman said KD wasn't a good fit with GS. That is just not true at all. This year doesn't disprove that and it's like everyone is counting them out. They will probably still win it lol. KD is most likely gone bc he wants to build his own dynasty his way and is honestly bored.

Like I said, Zion is on a rookie contract and is 19 a lot of teams would trade for him if they have a star that didn't want to be there or they know will be gone, like AD. I think the whole point was lost in the conversation.

Your hate for KD is clogging your pea brain. W's probably win it this year again LOL. I hate KD but I can appreciate his greatness, you obviously can't appreciate a great player and team when you see them. Kind of pathetic.

I said GS would trade KD for Zion, and that KD isn't a good fit for GS. Both are true. The fact they keep winning doesn't mean he is a good fit for the team, they could do better with a guy that doesn't play his best in isolation like KD.

Where have I said I hate KD, or anything negative about him? Must be all those times I keep talking about how good KD is that is making you think I hate him. :L

You inability to follow a conversation is clouding your ability to carry an on point conversation.

Disagree with the KD fit. 2017 is the prime example. He's a great fit, as about as natural a fit as you're ever going to find with two true superstars on a team. Name another team right now in the NBA that would transition KD as seemlessly into their offense, without sacrificing the abilities of the surrounding cast? You'd be hard pressed to find one.

Zion for KD doesn't make sense in that they really aren't the same player. Zion for Draymond would make much more sense, because they are really the comparable ones. Zion's peak is probably Game 7 of 2016 NBA finals Draymond. Seriously go watch him in that game and that's what Zion could be on a game-in basis. He has all the tools to be a much better offensive version of Draymond, which would put him in the Elite category of the NBA players.

I agree.

He fits very well when he wants to.

I also see what @fordman84 is talking about. Because this regular season KD has been more of a ball stopper than he had been prior. I think he will fix it come playoff time, but I am not 100% sure this time. I do think it might be a bit more than boredom with him. But I also think the Warriors will win anyway because they are that good.

Right, KD is an elite scorer from anywhere on the floor. And the great thing is he can do everything. He can spot up, he can create his own shot and he has become a good enough passer now in his career he fits perfectly with guys like Klay and Steph who are also elite shooters. He also has become a very good defender and shot blocker with his length and size. Zion right now can do these things at an elite level (college level): finish at the rim and in transition. Very good rebounder and defender for his size.

His fit isn't identical for GS unless like you said he replaced Draymond.
