What about the flip side of that? Building up the offense with getting a QB, LG, WR and TE with those first 4 picks? I almost think its better to go defense.

Washington Redskins draft history - Wikipedia

IMO regardless of whether the emphasis is on defense or offense the key is finding solid players who stick with the team for a decent amt of time. This has been a problem with the Redskins in the past & primarily because they didn't make the rt picks (not because they traded or let someone go to another team - some exceptions here like Fuller, Orakpo & the Cousins debacle but not the norm).

If you look at the drafts from 2010-2018 - only the past two years look solid & both of those are TBD (IMO you need at least 3 years to determine if a player is solid). Last year's draft shows the most potential. The 2017 draft also has some potential, but there are question marks with the guys taken in rds 2-4 (put up or shut up time for these guys).

The RG3 trade obviously had a huge impact on the drafts for 2012, 2013 & 2014 & set this team back quite a ways (not to mention its impact on other QB moves over last few years). Otherwise there have been some questionable picks (Doctson, Cravens, M. Jones, Amerson, J. Jenkins, etc). Not all picks are going to work out for any team, but the Skins need to achieve a better retention rate. The young players are the cheaper ones & will help make your overall team better. Hopefully the players from the last few drafts will continue to contribute & this trend will continue for the next several drafts. HTTR
