he watches Maine and UNH and is standing on his soapbox saying he won't watch AAF because it's so bad ....

You're an asshole.

I graduated from Maine and watch them when possible. I live in NH and support the school.

Why do you have to be such a shithead?? Oh, I forgot. You a sucky Chiefs fan.

I can't blame you for watching and paying attention to your local colleges or where you went to school. I think most do that. Heck, I still keep up with how Ball State does in sports. Usually not good.

But that said, the quality of the AAF was much better than most college games. Perhaps Bama vs Clemson could be better, but that is pretty much it.

I think NFL teams practice squad is where some will end up. From there, a few will see playing time. This league just provides us fans with some decent football in the spring and provides the players a chance to showcase their skills.

I may have to give it a try next weekend...……..if its not the NFL,it just seems like it would be watching a bumch of amateurs...…….But like I said,I`ll give it a whirl...…...

It's not "American" football..................It's southern football.

Team furthest east is Atlanta. People in the East, Northeast and Mid-America could care less. If the closest team is 2000 miles away, it's going to be near impossible to generate interest, let alone finagle people into buying stuff. I'm certainly not going to pay $2000 to fly, get a hotel and eat in Atlanta for a weekend to watch guys that can't make even the New York Jets practice squad.
I thought about that, but the League is doing it right. Not a good time of the year for outdoor northern football. Plus, with 2 exceptions (Atlanta and Arizona), they are staying out of NFL Markets, and even those two teams are playing in alternate stadiums. In the mean-time, find a team to adopt!

Back in the day, the Boston Patriots played a home game @ Legion Field vs. the Jets - when they were looking for a new home. SO, The All-American City would love to have the Patriots fans adopt the Iron - since they play in one of the Patriots former "home" stadiums.

:D

Go, Iron, Go!

P.S. Now, a team in Syracuse might work?

Would you agree that the AAF is like AAA in baseball? These guys are not yet ready for the bigs??
Maybe my expectation when I started watching was a bit high. The SA game just couldn't get me interested. That and I might have a bit more interest if a team was a bit closer.

A team might do well in Albany, NY or Even Springfield, MA. Just keep them out of the NFL cities that can't or won't support them. Please stay away from Hartford, CT (City of sports death). Just don't know if Syracuse could handle it.

Weather be damned. Seattle and portlandgot more snow this past weekend than we've had all winter. Temps have been a bit low, but that's why they invented the sideline jets. 8^)

I only chose Syracuse because of the Dome. I actually like Portland as a choice, but Seattle is an NFL market. Heck, I live in Ohio, and I wouldn't go support a team in our crappy February weather. Either way, just look at it like Spring Training which is all played in the Sun Belt due to weather.

Go, Iron, Go!

It was on one of the bar TVs yesterday. The bartender said, "Second rate teams in second rate cities.". He summed it up pretty well.

Here are my views on what I saw on Saturday and the highlights from others games:

POSITIVES

I agree with all the tweaks they made: shorter play clock, have to go for two after a td, sky judge which reviews the plays on the field, less commercials, onside "kicks" if down by at least 17 points or trailing with less than five minutes left, Kansas playoff system for OT, and eliminating the kickoffs. Kickoffs are the LEAST relevant portion of football, and they are the most injury prone. Eliminating them makes the game shorter, safer, and protects team's investment in players.

The league isn't pretending to compete with the NFL. It's basically the late night snack for football fans. You get to see football. You get players the ability to develop and have a shot at making next year's team. I think it's a great idea to have what NHL, MLB, and Soccer does: a league designed specifically for player development and allowing undrafted players the ability to show their abilities.

I also hear that they only charge at most 35 dollars per ticket, which is a great perk.

NEGATIVES

Regardless of who they have as their poster childs, like Polian or Ward, it's still NFL light. It's still lower quality football. It's basically like watching the fourth preseason game or the second half of any preseason game. The games so far, they have either been low scoring or lopsided games.

Under the OT rules, ties still can happen. I hate ties, period.

There are box scores on their site now!

trent richardson had like 23 carriers for 58 yards lol

although the box scores are messed up

it says trent had 58 rushing up top, then not listed in the team stats

They still need to do a lot of work on their website.

I was on there yesterday looking for the box scores also and had trouble even finding the results of the games

not sure having former football players in the executive positions bodes well for the league .... that's like giving a warehouse worker the job of vice president of marketing from one day to the next.

Warehouse worker as vice president of marketing:

Look, it is a big place to store your shit. I know, I used to work there. You need to get this decision off your plate so just sign the papers and let's go to the titty bar, I am buy the lap dances today.

How hard can it be?
