I think it may stand a decent chance to succeed too. As described so far, it doesn't seem to be very gimmicky like the XFL was. They have good NFL folks involved. Starting soon after the Superbowl is great for me. Cut down on the NBA coverage a little.
I like watching football allot. The XFL was shit and pretty much unwatchable.

Yep. The XFL had lots of stupid shit happening. McMahon tried to put too much WWE into it.

The "experts" think it will fail because of the quality of play and players. It will do fine because there's the 'Fantasy Football' money and the Las Vegas money. How many people immediately turn to the NBA or the NHL after the Super Bowl?? If they play on Sunday afternoon only and keep the league to 8 teams it should be interesting. Four games a week for 12 weeks takes us into May. Get a month and a half off and the NFL starts to kick into gear. This will be a perfect opportunity for guys who would never get a chance in the NFL to really show their stuff and possibly make an NFL team and earn a living.

I used to go right to the NHL after the SB.

But no longer. I'll watch the playoffs with one eye.

Instead I've re-discovered the library and books. Actual books. Paper things.

I'll cherry pick tennis events, watch F1 and wait for the NFL to fire up again.

Not really in this case. They are using more prominent people. Bill Polian is involved as well as others.
I think it looks like they are doing this much better than the XFL. It could still suck, I will admit that. I'm excited though. I crave another football league. Trumps biggest fuck up was killing the USFL.

Nothing wrong with 2 point conversions either.
The choice to go for 4th and 10 from the 35 is interesting as a substitute for an onside kick. I would make it 4th and 15 myself.
All these make a kicker not needed. Nothing wrong with that. While I don't want to see it this way in the NFL, I'm OK with it in an alternate league. Much better than the shit they tried to do in the XFL.

I gave the XFL a shot. It didn't take long to disappoint. If the CFL was televised and covered more, I think I would watch it. I really like watching football. The LFL is actually pretty decent football. I was surprised to find that the players are not paid in the LFL.

Sounds similar to Greg Schiano's proposal. After scoring a team faces fourth and 15 from their own 30. You either punt or go for it. Still a kick return, but not a true kick off.

I gave the XFL a shot. It didn't take long to disappoint. If the CFL was televised and covered more, I think I would watch it. I really like watching football. The LFL is actually pretty decent football. I was surprised to find that the players are not paid in the LFL.

Won't do LFL either.

But I've been known to watch the CFL on occasion.

I always hope these new leagues don't fuck up the CFL.
