Leaving a game up to "too bad" is bullshit. Deciding the outcome by only allowing one team to play offense is ridiculous.

If the Sox went into extra innings against the Yankees in the ALCS and the Yankees were given a chance to bat and the Sox weren't, it's no different. Just stupid and illogical.

can we please stop using baseball as a reference sport? it's not remotely the same as football. they don't even use a clock in baseball.

just go back to sudden death and be done with it.

I think the sudden-death overtime drama is uniquely the NFL Making it more than a field goal to win initially is fine but giving each team "a turn" cheapens it...

The Saints won the toss and loss and the Patriots didn't.. The Chiefs had numerous good opportunities to stop the Patriots and couldn't..

There's always going to be crap calls, missed calls, boneheaded plays, -- it's a part of the game.

But Chiefs fans should feel good about having a stud at QB, and in knowing they'll be in the hunt for the next decade.

Didn't end up how you wanted, but great game and season, K.C. fans.

In baseball, the defense has the ball.

Baseball ≠ Football.

Stop crying.
This comment makes no sense.

KC lost fair and square.....NO lost because of a botched call......That was just horrendous.

It's literally the only sport that is designed to only allow one team to play to win the game. I'm aware that defense matters too, but to decide the outcome of an entire game by not allowing both teams the chance to score a TD? Stupid and illogical.

There are a lot of NFL rules I disagree with but OT is fine. Teams can play the 4th to avoid OT if they want.

Neither team was doing much stopping. Had KC won the toss most would guess at least 80% chance they score the way things were going.

This game was decided on a coin flip. It is what it is.

Get out of here with that bullshit. Everyone knows they've been slowly killing defense in this league for years with all the offensive friendly rule changes.

How many points were scored from the start of the 4th quarter on in this game? :L

Call it what you want man, but the rule changes had little to do with KC losing that game...3rd and 10 is not a gimme in the NFL, even with the new rules. KC faced that 3 times and yielded the 1st all 3 times.

Don't blame rules for that.

Actually, it appears you're not aware.

If the Saints had won or if the Chiefs had won then no one would be writing a thread like this and the talking heads would "demand" change. Yes college seems like the way to go but this is the NFL and the job of the defense is to STOP said the offense. You have 60 minutes to win the game so keep it the way it is..

Watch the league switch it now that the Rams and Pats won

I don't think you're mentally capable to have a conversation with someone that has a different opinion than yours.

Your opinion is stupid. For years, a field goal was all that was needed to win the game in overtime. The current rule change is good enough. The defense is JUST AS IMPORTANT as the offense, so stop crying about it.

If the dingbat DE on the Chiefs isn’t lined up offsides, the Chiefs intercept Brady and it’s Rams Chiefs... we are not in here with boxes of Kleenexes even talking in this thread

So if one team is allowed to score a run in the top of the 10th inning and the game is over, that makes sense to you? It's identical to the situation in NFL OT.

While I agree with the first part I don't want to go back to sudden death. I think the way they have it now is the most fair.
