And you obviously can't read....

Unless you think, NFL teams won't score a single point after the first 7-8 minutes of OT, under my system you will never get a 4 OT game.

And once again, this will only be used for the playoffs

Sorry I’m tired of reading all of your blame the refs posts every Sunday so I just skim your posts

And that led to the change to the new OT rules that they're currently using.

Hopefully the game tonight lead to another tweak in the OT rules

Fair enough, I'm just saying that your team benefitted from a coin toss despite you decrying it.

Take my lumps? I'm not a Chiefs fan lol.

Saints had the ball first in OT today.

Losing a game due to a coin toss is just so trash to me.

The least you can do is allow the opposing offense to get the ball if a team starts OT with a TD on their first possession.
They didn't lose because of the coin flip, they had to play defense because of the coin flip. They lost because their defensive line is dog shit.

They did but I always hated the NFL OT rules. It was nice that they benefited from it 9 years ago but doesn't change my stance on the OT rules which is that it can be better....at least in the playoffs.

Regular season OT rules is fine. Just move it back to 15 minutes

So, what are the options?

I like the college format better personally...but starting further away than the 25. Maybe the 50 or so.

To each there own though. I've just watched college a lot more in my life and probably am just more used to it.

I never want to see the college format ever in the NFL.

I like the NFL OT better than college because they kinda treat it like a regular game.

College OT is simply a gimmick. Starting at your opponents 25 is so trash. You can literally not gain a single yard and still can put 3 points on the board

I see that and understand the point made above being that the rosters aren't as big, just feel the college format makes it a little more exciting and leads to some great finishes. I definitely think starting from the 25 is trash....even in college. The college system needs to be adjusted as well.

We see 2 OT games today.. great games and we have to cry about something. 1 game had a good enough D to get a stop, the other not so much.

How many kleenexes can one go through in one day?

It would have been nice to see Mahomes and Co. get a chance, but the damn defense has to make a play. The Patriots just drove it right down their throats in OT. That's the way it is. And to think if Dee Ford doesn't lineup offside the game doesn't go into OT and the Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl. That's a bitch.

No thanks I can watch Big 12 football
on saturdays. Sunday I like to watch teams that can get stops
Neither team was doing much stopping. Had KC won the toss most would guess at least 80% chance they score the way things were going.

This game was decided on a coin flip. It is what it is.

Get out of here with that bullshit. Everyone knows they've been slowly killing defense in this league for years with all the offensive friendly rule changes.

How many points were scored from the start of the 4th quarter on in this game? :L

He just wants to improve it I can see his point. Football is a team game why not let the offence and D get a chance for both teams. This way the coin flip isn't as important. It's like saying in baseball whoever scores first even if they bat first deserves to win. It's kind of nuts if you look at it this way but it is better than just kicking a FG and winning like in the past that was ridiculous...

Good point the D has been minimized as well making it more skewed...

Why not just get a stop? First game proved it can happen. You’re going to change the rules because another teams D sucks?

Great games today. Lol at trying to improving them

Somewhere in between is probably the right answer. Particularly in the playoffs of either league. Not as much the regular season.

I agree that kick offs still need to be a part of OT and college really kind of fucked that up.

The pros should still do kick offs and as long as there isn't a turnover or punt give the other team a shot so we can see BOTH teams defense AND offense proving it on tired legs. Just seems a better format.

It was so disappointing to not see Mahomes get a chance to match Brady with a TD of his own.

IMO no matter what the team does in the opening possession, the other team should be get the ball back to try and match it.

After that then you can go to sudden death.

I'm perfectly fine if they would only use this formula in the playoffs.

They already did by not letting a team win on a dinky FG on first score.

I agree with the second poster. Defense needs to step up and get a stop. If you can't, you have no business playing for the big prize.

The part I would change......No game shall end in a tie.....There's no quarter of any such time, just a play clock.....Rest of the rules stay the same.......

If your def can't stop the other team from getting a td on opening drive of ot,so be it.....Works the same for both teams.

Bullshit. The Pats had Mahomes running for his life in the first half. The Chiefs made adjustments and got back into the game.

The Pats did the same thing to the Chargers the week before.

If you can't et a stop, your team doesn't deserve to be playing for it all (my Bears included who failed to stop the Eagles on 4th down TWICE )

Not saying it can't happen but as wizard hawk said offence has been given favortism so it disadvantages the D even more. Why not even it out instead of letting a coin decide it? Good for the fans to see Mahones get a crack to tie it or even go for a TD and two. Would make OT crazy good...
