Every year is different. How do you feel about the Oklahoma defense? You think they wI'll contain the Tide?
Our defense, pardon my french, sucks ass. They will not contain anybody least of all Alabama. They are, however athletic and opportunistic.

Ive said in other places that the only thing that will stop Bama's O is Bama's O. A stupid penalty, dropped ball, or turnover. Nobody is perfect.

But the OU D is capable of a scoop and score or a big sack at just the right time.

Their biggest strength comes, oddly enough, from their weakness. The will keep playing after giving up a lot of yards and points.

I have this game as a shootout.

That's the way I look at it, too.

I think Bama will win by 9 BUT the one chance OU has is if it can jump out ahead by 10 or more and make Alabama start pressing. The last two games were a lot different than the rest of the season when the OU defense improved dramatically against West Virginia and Texas by forcing turnovers and also scoring points. If we see OU get a decent lead and see the OU defense playing well, then Oklahoma has a real shot at an upset.
You think their defense improved against WVU ? They gave up 56 points and and 704 yards dude. The turnover margin was even with WVU 2 to 2. OU gave up the 2nd highest point total to WVU that they scored all year (58 versus Baylor).

They only forced 1 turnover versus Texas. The improvement over game 1 versus Texas was them stopping the run better and Texas having 13 Penalties.

Bamas defense typically looks much better after that month off to heal.

Gotta hold the Sooners to 40. If they do that I think Bama wins.

Alabama is the deep state of cfb.

The defense scored against West Virginia when they returned a fumble for a TD. That made the difference between winning and losing that game. That was the first time all year they made that kind of contribution.

Against Texas, the defense kept getting stops when we needed them. The Texas rushing game evaporated late in the game. Again, it was something the D hadn't done all year.

OU's defensive stats always stink and I hope the Bama players are reading them and interpreting them exactly the same way you are. That's when shit happens. I've seen Oklahoma lay an egg many times when they had the game won before kickoff. We'll see. Just don't be surprised if the OU defense is better than what you're expecting. A couple of stops/turnovers/forced bad punts, etc. by the OU defense and all hell will be breaking out in the Orange Bowl.

So because the defense scored you say that is an improvement ? Even though they gave up 704 yards and 56 points ?

Penalties killed Texas. 13 for 128 yards. OU did stop the run better from the first game for sure.

If OU gives up 704 yards and 56 points to Alabama they are toast. Even if their defense scores once. That isn't a good performance.

You're missing the point but I'm not going to argue with you. I've watched every down of every game this season. I know when a D is bad and I can see when one has an occasional spark of competence. The OU D was horrible for the first 11 games this year and just simply bad the last two games. If they can improve up to just half-assed fair against Bama it will be a sight to see because the OU offense is going to be scoring points. I don't care about the stats. If OU can score 1 more point somehow, someway or keep you from scoring 1 less point somehow, someway that's all that counts. Will it happen? Probably not. But if it does happen, OU's been in tight games all year so it will be nothing new to us. However, if Murray's clicking and the OU defense is "just getting lucky" once in awhile, Saban's ass might be clenched so tight you won't be able to pull a piano wire out of it with a bulldozer.

"Simply bad" 704 yards and 56 points. Thanks for making me laugh.

Your only argument for this is "They scored once on defense". Not they tackled better. Covered better. Filled run gaps better. They scored once.

Saban has been in 3 straight Title games that were close. I think he knows how to handle it.

OU's defense is so bad, Signal, that you dont have the life skills to even speak intelligently about it.

It is absolutely correct to say that the OU defense improved against WVU. They actually contributed.

I did speak intelligently about it. Quite a few times. His responses were basically "They scored once therefore they improved". I brought up tackling, coverages , and run fits. He avoided responding to that at all. It didn't improve against WVU. It was their worst game of the season from a production standpoint. Yet he tried to pass it off as an improved performance.

It WAS from a production standpoint their single worst game of the season. The Defensive score was like a blind squirrel finding a nut.

Alabama has a great defense. Oklahoma has a crappy defense. All it takes is one or the other playing out of character and the whole picture changes. Got it? If OU has a miraculous interception for a TD against Bama it might, repeat might, be the difference. If we get a couple of stops late in the game while we're leading by a TD or more, then Bama's in hot water. All that counts is the final score. Conversely, if our offense suddenly has three-and-outs, it will be a killer for us.......even if we win some meaningless stat contest. All that counts is the score. How that score is attained is irrelevant. Bama by 9 unless a miracle happens.

Dude I already said IF OU wins the Turnover battle by 2+ they have a shot. I only have Alabama by 10. I was just making a point about the ridiculous comment that against WVU the OU defense improved. It was their worst game of the season.

If OU can get this to the 4th qtr I really like their chances. Alabama hasn't been tested late at all really, especially Tua. I think they tire out after that OU oline has been leaning on them all game.
