Of course you paid the Citadel. I'm sure you pay all G5 schools to come play. The question is why would you want to pay to play UCF when there is no penalty for paying the Citadel to play instead?

There's always a penalty. We got lucky last year that Ohio St got trucked by Iowa. Had they not, the hit to our SOS might have kept us out. If we had beaten UCF last year instead of Mercer, it wouldn't have mattered.

First post so he will have no clue what that means. Giving the guy a break, but yes this is technically the 3rd thread on this topic.

I disagree, but to each his own. An 11-1 non-power 5 team is clearly a better addition to the SoS than an FCS school.

Teams are locked into their conference games so that only leaves a handful of games on the schedule. When the top teams aren't penalized for playing teams like UMass, or the Citadel, that leaves a small window of opportunity if you are a good G5 school.

That's all I'm saying.

The top teams ARE penalized for playing those teams. Where do you get the idea that they aren't?

I think you are mis-reading that. I was saying that if we had played UCF instead of Mercer it wouldn't have mattered that Ohio St got trucked by Iowa, I think the addition of UCF would have bumped us in over Ohio St due to the harder schedule.

Hell 2 loss LSU had a wayyyyy outside chance to make it due to SOS.

Maybe he should consult then #5 2007 Michigan how scheduling FCS teams can penalize you. It hurts when you win, it is downright soul crushing when you lose

Because they are still playing them and getting into the playoof. UCF doesn't have that luxury. They could play a super hard OOC schedule and people would still say their schedule isn't tough enough.

This is just straight up bullshit you are making up. Hasn't even come close to happening, won't happen and if it did happen I would personally start a crusade to change things. I have nothing against UCF, they are mostly being used for other peoples agendas, the same way Boise St was. I rooted for UCF against Auburn, I'll be rooting for them against LSU.

The reality is the opposite. What teams like Alabama and the ones you mention don't have is the luxury of playing such a shitty schedule. Nor should anyone else, including UCF and all teams.

What people like you are asking for isn't equal treatment for schools like UCF, they are getting that now. You want special treatment for them. You want them to be excuses for playing easier schedules while other schools play tough schedules and rack up a loss or 2.

Look at Georgia right now. Played the 4th toughest schedule in college football. Would have gone undefeated so easily on UCF's schedule, and yet they aren't going to the playoffs as a result of a tough schedule. And yet this is fine with you, but let the team that went undefeated on the 120th toughest schedule, only 10 teams having easier schedules, and you act like they are getting ripped off?

I'd love to see UCF in the playoffs, but not at the expense of teams that deserve it.

You have it totally wrong. Teams like Boise St. and UCF could play the toughest OOC schedule on the planet and they still wouldn't get in because they play in a weak conference.

Georgia on the other hand could play UMass. and Austin Pea and still be considered because they play in a tough conference. You and I both know that if they had beat Alabama they would have been in regardless of the fact that they played two cup cakes.

This discussion isn't about conference schedule. It's about out of conference schedule.

I'm not asking for equality I'm asking for equal opportunity.

What we have now is not equal opportunity because G5 schools have to play a tough out of conference schedule to even be considered, and p5 teams do not.

Please let me know when a G5 has played a remotely tough OOC and people talked shit about them. Boise State at least had the balls to play one tough team in its OOC, just like every other P5 school which is why during their run they would be ranked high. UCF doesn’t schedule tough teams and then cry that the system is set against them even if they did something that they are flat out refusing to do.

You can’t say that no G5 will get an equal opportunity when none have scheduled two good P5 teams and actually won the games.

It's simply not true and maybe those teams should actually try playing tough OOC schedules and then say - well we did this and it wasn't enough, rather than playing weaker OOC schedules than the teams you mention in tougher conferences on top of it.

120th out 130 teams. And you are making the argument it doesn't matter how tough their schedule is? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

Pick any schedule from 2018 from a P5 school not including conference games. Then show me which schedule could have played, where they only lose one game, go undefeated in conference, and make the playoff. I'll wait.

Fresno St last year could have gone undefeated and made the playoffs. They played a schedule tough enough to do so.

But they didn't go undefeated. They lost to Alabama, Washington(OOC) and beat Boise St in the regular season, but lost to them in the conference championship game.

There are G5 teams that play the tougher schedules and somehow they manage to schedule them(they take the games offered to them, odd), but for some reason whenever a team goes undefeated these types of schedules are claimed impossible.

Pick any p5 OOC schedule froma P5 school. If UCF had played that schedule, lose one game, and go undefeated in conference, they still would not have made the playoff.

And their SoS would be higher than 120th. Why should UCF be allowed to have a pop Warner schedule and given a free ride into the playoffs. Just start letting every G5 school schedule 3 FCS schools and hope they go undefeated so that they go to the playoffs.
