The SEC has stated that they're not interested in expanded to states where the SEC already has a member.

If the SEC expands, they're probably gonna look to get one of the North Carolina schools and Virginia Tech.

Nebraska and Iowa offer nothing, and again the state of Texas would have to supply all the talent for this dreadful division just to stay competitive. Texas gains nothing in this deal, except more mouths to feed recruiting wise.
TX can't keep the best talent in the state now. If TX can't recruit against Nebraska and Iowa they have bigger problems.

I would be cool with it. Big 12 is going to die. It has the smallest population base of any conference. It’s the Big 8/SWC on steroids. 4 of the 10 schools are flag ship Universities of their state. 20% is small private schools. It isn’t built for long term success. Right now TCU, OSU, and KSU have historically good coaches (and Snyder is leaving). Imagine what happens when that turnover happens. Change is inevitable and the Big 10 would be a perception bump

It is always nice when a longhorn posts something that is logical and down to earth.

This is typical UT mentality; they claim intellectual fandom rights to all 30 million people in the state.

The truth is 90% of the people in the state hate UT and pull for another state school or give 2 flips about CFB.

TAMU, TCU, BAYLOR, UH, UNT, UTSA, UTEP, and the handful of smaller and junior colleges hate the Longhorns.

The Big 12 will end up being swallowed or picked apart at some point. Texas is most likely going to move to the PAC or the Big 10 at that point. Del Conti is a good AD with a real vision, I think he understands that. I am sure there will be competing bids to see how it goes down, because Texas brings in money and that is what it is all about, but the Big certainly fits what Texas will be looking for

well, it could definitely work out to create the four 16-team power conferences.

ACC, Big10, and SEC all have space for 2 more. Pac 12 has room for 4 more.

Only question is who draws the short straw and gets stuck with Kansas football. Obviously their basketball program would boost whichever conference took them, though.

Other question is whether Notre Dame Football is forced to finally join a conference....

If not, leave them out. It's time.

I dont think Texas would appreciate the Pac 12 and how horribly they have handled their network and game time slots its just been a real shit show. The only draw is california players for recruiting but i think it would be a massive step backwards in $$ to go pac of b1g.. but who knows all the politics behind the scenes of this deal that MIGHT happen 6 or so years from now at the soonest

PAC has a lot of potential. Fastest growing area in the country. You would have major markets from Texas, LA, Denver, and Seattle. It’s fixer upper, but it could be monster down the line

Don't think they would like playing at 9PM CST every weekend.

Exactly! not to mention the availability of the PAC12 network nationwide is just poo when you look at major sports networks that are included in most base packages

I believe there will be some reorganization, but I don't see
it happening until the end of the 12-year agreement...Unless
there is a large movement to dump the current set-up.

I believe they will expand the Power 5 base from the current
65 teams to 80 teams. Add another Power 5 League and redo
the selection process for playoff teams.

I think that the remaining members of FBS will get lumped with
FCS, rather than creating a 3rd group at the Div 1 level.

Probably see the bottom part of FCS shifted back to Div II.
There's as much disparity in FCS as there is in FBS. Oregon State
at Bama would be considered a closer contest than Stetson at
North Dakota State.

The big ten west is the most boring division in America. Texas recruits would have to sustain that crap division, so basically Texas gets nothing in return and offers up everything, no thanks.
Wisconsin and Iowa have finished top 10 more times this century than the rest of the B12 combined .... In their entire history ... But yeah other than that ...
