I'll say this about the Sens, they must be fun as hell to watch this season. At the top in goals for and at the bottom in goals against.

They are. And the worst part is that they're really only an experienced top 4 D away from being right there for a playoff spot. I wonder where they could have found one of those this offseason? Fucking idiots.

They need a backup goalie too but that shouldn't be hard. The youth on this team (some of whom should have had much bigger roles last year) are awesome. Boucher still has his useless plug, defensive favourites but at 4 rookies are getting prime minutes as of now.

The sad part is that once Chabot, Tkachuk and Batherson reach UFA Melnyk will send them packing. The man needs to go away.

They probably need a succession plan for Anderson but I don't know whether he's actively steeply declining or just getting blitzed by facing 40 shots a night and would be better if that moved toward league average. Either way they need to start thinking about a younger starter anyway if the youngsters are going to get the team moving toward playoff contention this year or next.

If LA puts Muzzin on the market they should be all over that.

They need a stopgap at the very least until Gustavsson is ready (if he ever is). Anderson is playing alright but he's overworked. A lot of nights the 40 shots come from the outside and the young D clears the puck well and smartly. It's due to Boucher's maddening collapsing system in the D zone. The other half of the games the the 20 and 21 year old defenders, and the shitty older ones, predictably make some mistakes and it's not pretty. The system puts too much stress on the D-men and subsequently on the goalie. It's rarely the goalie's fault, IMO. They're just too green on D. Where they aren't green they just aren't good. See Borowiecki, Mark and Wideman, Chris.

As for Muzzin they should be all over him but they won't because they would only do that if there was salary going back to LA. I'm pretty sure that is a non-starter for the Kings.

Savard and Korpisalo will heal all your worries. We'll even add in Dubisnky.

Mark Stone, Bobby Ryan... we can work something out.

I actually think the uber thing bought him a couple weeks. He's been awful this year. When he broke into the league I thought he was going to be a good one. It hasn't happened and he's 28. Good riddance. Makes room for some of the guys who have a real future.

Also...

Wideman at tomorrow's practice: Man I'm glad I was traded. I hated my coaches more than any coach I've ever had!!

Hitchcock: Hold my beer and cheeseburger and chocolate cake!!

Put up another condo. It's a better use of land anyway.

Behind the scenes, three sources with direct knowledge of the negotiations characterized the major roadblock as Melnyk, whose bargaining tactics have bedevilled government reps and those inside RendezVous who have been involved in the talks. No one is quite sure what Melnyk’s end-game is on LeBreton Flats, they said.

The sources, who didn’t want to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak publicly about the negotiations, said Melnyk has been trying to avoid paying for the arena.

“The expectations were spectacularly unrealistic,” one source said.

Sounds like Melnyk is the 21st century Dollar Bill Wirtz.

I hope it blows up in Melnyk's face. He's holding out on selling the team because whoever gets those development rights stands to make a fortune.

If Melnyk gets punted from the plans he'll sell the team within 2 years, which is worth any short term pain.
