The point Mecca made and most LA residents know.....is that until the Clipps win a title or (LOL) 2 they aren't even in the discussion, despite having a better record.

Los Angeles is Laker-land and unless you live here, you really can't understand....

I forgot you don't like joking around when it comes to your Lakers. I'll stop doing that. Wait a minute, no I won't.:D

in intereest- sure- but in talent and record? No one in their right mind could possibly assert that the Clippers have not been consistently better than the Lakers over the last half decade. Its not particularly close- and thus far this year- that certainly has not changed. I couldnt even imagine what you would be doing if the Lakers were off to an 11-5 start and 2nd in the West. Gotta give the Clips credit where credit is due- and give Doc some credit as well.

I've told Mecca as much but that doesn't make them THE TEAM IN LA.

Again, you're missing the point alto-fucking-gether.....

He's 21 in his 3rd professional season after playing how many college seasons? 1. And playing with the best player on the planet....
what it comes down to DJ- is that the Lakers had 3, maybe 4 chances to get a high level/elite talent in the draft...their 3 #2 picks and their #6 pick. They got Russell, Ball, Ingram and Randle. Russell they had to get rid of in a salary dump of course. Randle honestly might end up being the best player out of all 4 and he was let go for nothing.....Ingram the jury is still out on but I have seen nothing to believe he will be a All Star level player that can be a main guy on a championship contender.....and Lonzo Ball has a funky skill set that just does not really work in today's NBA- he might have some value but its doubtful he will ever be a top 10 PG in a league where you have to be freaking AWESOME to be a top 10 PG.

When the Cavs did it- they had multiple lotto picks---- they hit big on one of them- Irving- used another one to make a trade.

IF the Lakers did what the Cavs did- say just hit on ONE of them big---and used the other in a trade for PG- they would be on top of the world and with the struggles of the Warriors this year- maybe even a contender.

Instead they will be in a dog fight for a 7 seed.

Just to stir things up you need to start reminding people that Lonzo was the 2nd pick in the draft. Can the word bust be used yet?

:trash: (shake, rattle 'n roll)
it depends on your definition of bust.

Tristan Thompson was the #4 pick. If I am drafting in the top 5, ideally, you want an All Star level player, or at least a really really good player.

Thompson has been an integral part of a championship team. He was huge in the Finals the Cavs won. He averaged a double double in 2 straight NBA Finals...is rarely hurt, plays hard. Al lthat being said- you could make the argument that as a #4 overall pick that he is a bust.

Lonzo will probably be similar. PG is loaded in the NBA. To be an elite level point guard you have to be GREAT. A #2 pick carries the expectations of being great. Ball is never going to be a top 5 PG in the league- and i think its doubtful he will be a top 10 guy. That being said- he could be a 10 year NBA starter, and very solid role player on great teams and contribute meaningfully to some winning seasons.

Its all how you frame bust?

Some guys are OBVIOUS busts- Anthony Benett for example- Johhny Flynn, Jan Vesley etc.

Some guys drafted really high have huge expectations that never fulfill them- but it could probably be argued either way if they are "busts".

Imagine if your Lakers traded Ingram for PG, drafted Tatum instead of Ball....and saved their cap room to bring in Kemba.

That would truly be Showtime II and would have me sucking my thumb in a corner rocking back and forth mumbling incoherently---- and its not like any of that is unrealistic or stretches of the imagination.

PG: Kemba
SG: George
SF: Tatum
PF: LeBron
C: Anyone with a pulse

holy shit would be that be fire right there.

Cavs were proactive- they actually TRADED for the pick that became Kyrie Irving

No one is going to hit on ALL their picks.

As I said- out of all the picks the Cavs had- they just had to hit big on ONE of them. They did- Kyrie.

They used another pick to get Kevin Love.

The Lakers- instead of trading any of their picks- held on to them- and didnt hit big on any of them. Its why you are where you are right now.

If they wouldve hit big on just ONE of those 4 picks and dealt one of them---- they would be sitting pretty.

I think they hit big on Kuzma considering he was a late 1st round pick. But, considering the rest of the guys they drafted, the jury's still out.

Kuzma is without a doubt a GREAT role player- and considering his cost control over the next few seasons he is a real asset.

But when I talk about "hit" I mean a guy who can be one of the guys in a potential Big 3.

Is it possible Kuzma develops into that? id say doubtful but not impossible. He was already a long-time college player and came into the NBA with a lot of his development already completed. Plus he is allergic to defense. Can he be Bosh or Love? I dont see it.

@Mecca is a former Clipps fan and she's even admitted the Lakers WILL NEVER be the 2nd best team in Staples Center.
Why do you include me in this nonsense?

Former Clippers fan?

Dude....just stop.

Who cares what anyone thinks about your personal life?

You don't need his validation.

He keeps bringing this up because you keep reacting.

Don't give him the satisfaction.
