Q, like all coaches, had a shelf life and it was apparent by now that he had reached it some time ago.

Trading Panarin for Saad was incredibly fucking dumb, though, as was the Seabrook contract and, to a point, re-signing Toews to that monster deal (although I understand it). Bowman should not be the one to get to make these changes.

Saad was used to get Panarin on the Blue Jackets and Anisimov on the Hawks. :suds:

Corey Crawford, Cam Ward, Duncan Keith, and Chris Kunitz are all older than their new coach. Keith Seabrook is only 3 months younger.

Guess we did what needed to be done to keep the band together, but didn't expect Toews, Keith and Seabrook to drop off as quickly as they did.... Panarin was going to be lost due to salary, but Saad is clearly not the same player we let go a couple years prior.....

We are shackled by expensive contracts with no move clauses... Just have to wait it out I guess....

Firing Coach Q seems a move to buy time by Bowman IMO... Though yeah, Q's schtick clearly had grown old for the players, so maybe a shakeup will help.... I don't know.

It was a much steeper decline than typical for high-end players but it was always inevitable given how much of a speed game the league plays today. If he had to pay Toews, fine, but Seabrook was just a no-brainer to let go of. Crawford was probably a bad deal too but they're far from the only ones to give bad money to a goalie.

But you never know. Kane's still all-world, they got a steal in DeBrincat, Schwartz is solid, Jokiharju is having a good start...there's still hope there.

Yeah, just a matter of re-defining "The Core" and letting the others fall off our salary cap... Toews isn't playing bad, but he isn't playing $10 million dollar hockey either by a long shot. Keith and Seabrook seem pretty much done though...

They way I see it two coaches who both have their names on the Stanley Cup have been canned so far this season. Randy Carlyle and John Tortarella have their name on the Cup and haven't been shit canned yet. These things come in 3's I'm told. Both crap coaches as evidenced by Sunday night's game.

Mike Sullivan's team beat the Flames 9-1 but has lost the last two games by an aggregate score of 10-1. I'm not saying he's about to get fired, but something is amiss in Pittsburgh.

I'm guessing it's just a lot of shooters getting lucky.

If you have only been around 20-30 years, the whole concept of an alternate jersey is just silly.

I know Marleau has been pretty good for Toronto, but I didn't realize it had reached canonization heights :D

Really not surprised Coach Q got fired as Chicago coach, all good things come to an end. Guy did good for the team. Coliton is 33 and seems like a step down from Coach Q, though in all reality anyone would. I also think Coach Q will be coaching somewhere else by January.
