Edgar steps down as hitting coach.
Stott steps down as pitching coach.
Gordon and Segura have a late season fist fight.

The body count from the team's second half collapse is piling up. The team needs a shake up. Cruz is gone and after posting a .256 BA and turning 39 next season, maybe it is just as well.

How much of Cano's and/or Seager's contract is a reasonable amount to eat? Cano makes $120 million over the next five years. I wouldn't want them to eat more than $45 million. That would be $9 million a year for us and $15 mill for the acquiring team. With Seager, we'd probably have to eat half which is probably not financially feasible.

Maybe we could package Seager with Paxton. A contender desperate for an ace or #2 pitcher will overpay for Paxton this off-season.

I think i may have brought this up in another thread but this seems to be just par for the course at this point in a Mariners GM regime.

We are at the stage where people under the manager and GM get scapegoated. Players that can be moved and then of course the hitting and pitching coaches. Stottlemeyer seemed like he was making a decent enough impact but something probably wasnt there with Servais and they already decided to extend Servais so they wont want to get more egg on their faces.

But yeah the manager will be gone in 1-2 years, the GM in 2-3 and then the cycle just starts over. Meanwhile the front office wont change its ways and they will just hire another GM that is a good talker that can convince them they can compete with the current lackluster roster.

In the meantime we fake contender for a couple more years until we find out who the next stooge is. It may be 85 wins or 75 wins, in the end its the same.
