Just thought I would post this because there were questions about how good Fuller was playing because KC has a poor defense.

Need more from: CB Kendall Fuller. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Fuller is allowing 9 yards per target when he is the nearest defender, 10th most among cornerbacks who have been targeted at least 30 times. The Chiefs will need his contributions as they are being attacked deep. Opponents have a 9.5 air yards per target average against the Chiefs, the fourth-highest average in the NFL. -- Sopan Shah

Fuller has been ok on a bad defense. Chiefs giving up 9.5 yards per target (4th highest in NFL). Fuller only giving up 9 yards per target, slightly better than his team/teammates.

He has been OK? It sounds like top ten to me.

Sounds like KF is playing bad on an awful defense, but given how the Chiefs defense is playing overall. I don't think anyone can say Fuller's holding back KC's defense,,,,,,,,but I digress.

Back to the topic.... while I like that stat geeks are delving deeper than ever into stats/metrics, situational football breakdowns etc. Some stat categories or breakdowns might be trying to do too much. Maybe this is one of them. Does it account for blown assignments of team mates for instance? There seems to be a good amount of that happening in the NFL these days.

Chiefs defense is 12th in pass defense (DVOA) surprisingly; mostly on the backs of the passrush and Scandrick/Nelson (huh)

But yes, Fuller has had less than expected results here. He has been juggling outside more than in Washington so I don't know how much that's just transition or simply him. Still optimistic for Fuller; Scandrick overachieving and Fuller underachieving eventually will balance out, imo.

Wouldn’t Fuller get more tackles because the teams playing the chiefs are throwing more because they’re down by 14 in the 2nd qtr most weeks

Yeah..Fuller has also been playing outside which is not where he excels. Best slot corner.

That's fine. But we did this years ago with Antonio Pierce and Ryan Clark just to pull two off the top of my head. it will always be a topic of conversation. I think in the end we are all rooting for the guys in burgundy and white.
