I bet it's before the HuskersWith the Browns winning, The lowless Houston Texans now have the longest losing streak in the NFL at 8 games
I bet it's before the Huskers
A 1 year avy bet on that?I can't wait for nebby to kick urbans ass this year
I think they'll pull out a win vs. the Giants this week 3 as it'll be a huge home opener and the pressure will be on for O'Brien because if he loses this game he could be a prime candidate for a mid-season HC fire. O'Brien is without question the worst HC and the Giants are equally terrible, so I'll favor the Texans, but only slightly.
Texans Match-up:
The Texans have a terrible OL and turns out letting Brown go to Seattle may have not been the best move, especially for a rookie QB who subsequently ended up injured last year. Rankin is not terrible but he's certainly nowhere near Brown's level of talent and it's not like the Texans didn't have the money to spend (especially for 3 more years which was Brown's contract), so I really never understood the goal there. Hopkins and Fuller are great, but they'll see difficult match-ups vs. the Giants secondary and Watson wont have a TON of easy looks.
That said, Alfred Blue and Lamar Miller (+ Watson) should be able to run for DAYS on the Giants defense, who is terrible against the run. If O'Brien has any sense to pull the head out of his ass, he'll continually pound the rock with screens/slants and playaction, to abuse the Giants terrible run D.
Giants Match-up:
I don't see Eli doing a ton in this match-up either. The Texans pass D is fairly stout and Houston's run D is not the best. Similar to Houston this should be a steady dose of Barkley and whoever... but in good ol' Eli/Giants fashion they will probably pass a good amount which plays into Houston's strength. Eli will naturally force a couple of bad passes and I see Houston capitalizing on this with an INT or two, which bodes poorly for away games.
On the defensive front, if O'Brien isn't an idiot he'll run the ball often and in an away atmosphere with the terrible D-Line that is NY, this could be difficult to come back from. If NYG cannot move the ball consistently (which I believe they wont) they'll be in for a long SLOW loss day.
Prediction:
The 6 point spread for Houston I feel is ridiculous and you'd be insane to bet on this game or pick for your survivor pool (Texans should be saved for the Bills). Fuller and Hopkins are great, but the Giants have good corners, so Watson will need to make difficult throws. The Texans should easily be able to pull this off if they consistently run the ball and gameplan around a ground attack vs. the Giants anemic LBers and lackluster DL.
Overall if I was forced I'd still pick the Texans for this game as O'Brien has to spend every ounce of his energy in a must win situation, even if that means hiring a High School coach for consultation. The Giants would be 0-3 as a result of a loss as well, but this team is in rebuild with 'done' Eli Manning. Nobody was expecting much from them outside of a top 5 pick to draft a new heir. People were expecting the Texans to compete for a Super Bowl.
Gotta have confidence in your team @huskers1217 .. After all you did schedule ... to get that magical 6 win this season!I think 2 week is our standard
Texans are too good to get this treatment. Fringe .500 team the rest of the way.
agreed. the texans are going to win plenty of games this year, maybe 6-8 wins this season.
now, if this thread were about the Bills or Cardinals, we may actually have to look hard at their schedules and think about it........
actually, that would be a good contest ...... everyone picks if/when the Bills or Cardinals will win next ....
Cardinals have two. They can beat the Raiders or the Lions.
Bills? Maybe one of the Jets games or Dolphins? Lol yikes.
