Before the season I definitely would’ve said by week 2 but alas, here we are. There’s no way in hell I see a us beating Miami next week so maybe we can hope Justin Fields still sucks by week 4?

If not, then I would say the Jets should be a good revenge game for us especially with Zach Wilson back at QB but knowing this team they probably wont show up to that game either.

Maybe week 11 against the Browns or 12 against the Texans. And before anyone says that’s ridiculous, look at our schedule and tell me who you think we have a better chance of if we don’t beat the Bears or Jets.

I doubt Vance lasts the year but we can‘t cut Russ until 2026 at the earliest unless we want to be eating like $50 mil in dead cap.

Unless you want to draft a QB real early and have him sit behind Russ theres no way we can get rid of him before 2026. He has an $89 million dead cap hit next year and a $49 million one the year after.

I read somewhere that if we designate him as a June 1st cut, it is not that expensive to get rid of him next off season.

The Rams are surprisingly legitimate even though they have around $70 mil in dead cap this season.

The only significant change on defense is the DC. In fact, personnel wise Id say we've improved quite a bit.

At this point I'm thinking tank, get our qbotf, and eat the cost of Wilson. A top rooki qb and their contract will make it easier to absorb the hit.

I don't know that the D personnel has really improved. We swapped Jones for Allen, which should be a wash, but are down Browning, traded Chubb, lost K'Waun, lost Sterns and have an aging Jackson who has only succeeded in providing cringe worthy cheap shots. Not to mention Mathis has regressed badly. We really have a weak pass rush and DL, ok MLB's and a suspect secondary outside of Surtain and Simmons. It ain't great personnel wise right now.

That said, VJ sucks and has to do more like his predecessor did, which I have zero faith in. Fangio vouched for VJ to screw the Broncos IMO.

We could beat Chicago, but after this past week nothing is guaranteed.

Wasn't Dre'Mont Jones a cornerstone of that defense last year? IIRC there were a lot here saying that it should be a team priority to get him re-signed.

He and Allen were a statistical swap, and Allen's contract demands were more team friendly. He also had the advantage of knowing the incoming system.
