Watched the game today, what a comeback from Belguim. Thought for sure Japan would pull off the upset. Brazil/Belguim should be fun on Friday.

Oh shit, Honda had a chance late on! Sadly the last Honda free kick we will ever see in a World Cup. Classic Honda dip and bend. Dude was so legit at free kicks through his career, Ronaldo -esque.

That was painful to watch. Had the game streaming during a meeting and could barely keep from screaming as Japan went up 2-0...then to watch the collapse and lose at the end like that. Great win by Belgium but that was a painful way to see Honda leave...

Fucking Gold

I'm been waiting for the memes from that. Some say he is still rolling...

Brazil has great defense actually. The thing though is it's easy to counter them because they are so offensively minded. Thiago Silva and Casemiro are the best central defender and defensive midfielder tandem in the world cup by far. Left and right back is where they're weak defensively.

Casemiro is going to be missing Brazil's next game though, this will hurt them big time defensively.

That's kind of what I was getting at teams like Belgium or France whop have a very fast counter can do some damage to them.

As far as Silva and Casemiro being the best central defensive tandem at the WC, Godin and Gimenez may have something to say about that.

Yeah, I can see it going extra time, even to PKs, but I'll be cheering on Sweden.

The one frustrating thing about the Cup is how many teams are so terrified of losing that they just forget to play the game

Like the entire second half of both Sunday games........The fear of attacking makes some games unwatchable

I could see 90+ minutes of that in this one

Not so sure in this one, you could see it with Spain because they are a "big" name and had high expectations and a lot of pressure back home. I doubt either Sweden or Switzerland had super expectations/pressure so we may see them (hopefully) play like Japan and just have a go at it.

I think if it's 1-1 or so it will be because of actual good defense i.e not just parking the bus.

I have some Swedish blood so I'll be going for them, but won't be too disappointed if the Swiss go through as Xhaka and Lichtsteiner are both Gunners.

Morning. First game is tough to call. I can see it being 1-1 after regulation and extra time. In PK, Sweden wins. 2nd game is England 2-1.

Own goal is what was needed to open the scoring.
