What do you guys think about the new NBA CUP European style tournament? Does it make you more likely to watch early season games?

Not really sure what the point of it is other than to maybe try to steal some shine from football.

I was good with the play in tournament for the playoffs because I knew it would keep folks interested in teams that would otherwise be ignored because their season is over.

Not sure what this is supposed to do.

I'll watch the games, but then, I'd be watching anyway. lol

I think only the 2 final teams play what will be an extra game. Everything else is regular season business as usual.

Exactly. Same here. That's why the only reason I can think of for them to do this is to try to pry some eyes away from football. It'll be interesting to see if it effects ratings at all.

I thought they were extra games. Just going to be like another regular season game except they expect the guys to play harder in these couple games? Weird. Teams aren't going to change how they plan to rest players or allocate minutes for a plastic trophy imo.

It will be interesting to see how the "champs" celebrate this in season tournament.

I don't think anyone will be resting players because the W/L totals count towards your regular season record. So teams will at minimum treat these games like regular season games. I would expect the competition level to step up a bit as the tournament goes on. These guys are competitive and since it's the first season this is happening, I'm sure given the opportunity the final 4 teams would be trying a bit harder than normal to win this.

These games are just regular season games. However, wins in these games will also count towards points towards the 'Cup'

I think its the NBAs way of making regular season games a little more meaningful.
