In 2 seasons in Houston

Im sure nothing shady is going on with Charlie Morton

Well, that's rich coming from a Yankee fan.

How about Aaron Judge?
Hits 20 HR once in the minors. His last year in the minors, he hits 19. Rookie year in the majors he hits 52?

Or Gary Sanchez
10 HR in 313 PA his last year in the minors, 33 HR in 525 PA his rookie year in the majors
upload_2018-6-28_8-14-46.png

Now Gleyber Torres hits 10 HRs last year in AA, but already has 14 in the majors this year?

That's 3 rookies in a row that saw a remarkable increase in HRs from minor league ball in their rookie year in the majors?

Why not keep going?

Mike Trout hit a career high 16 HR's in the minors in 2011, only to hit 30 for the Angels in 2012

Point is, there are a ton of young players that have increases in production as they mature into their bodies and into real ML players.....The list is endless

34 year old journeyman that just "Find it" and become Cy Young candidates?

Not many of those

Braves traded him for Nate McLouth. Didn't lose much, didn't gain much either.
Yeah, well, y'all made out like bandits in the Mike Gattis trade.

Love watching Gattis mash,

but would much rather have Mike Foltynewicz.:suds:

And the NYY manged to have 3 in a row:noidea:

The same NYY that have a long and storied history of buying talent as apposed to developing talent have now have the magic touch? I know the culture is changing, but find their success a little suspect.

of course you do

But you dont find it a "little suspect" that Justin Verlander was starting to look like most mid 30's pitchers in his final seasons in Detroit, but now routinely pitches to a sub 1.90 ERA

Or Gerritt Cole makes the NL to AL switch, one that typically ADDS a run to an ERA, but his ERA drops 3 runs

And Charlie Morton

yeah, none of that is suspect at all, just the Yankees

The major difference is that the Steinbrenners pretty much stepped aside on player decisions earlier this decade, so Cashman's had more authority than he ever did to make moves. Notice that in the early 2010s, the Yankees for the most part shifted their strategy to getting aging veterans for short-term deals (lower risk, higher reward) as a stop gap while focusing more on the farm. They got a bunch of former all stars ranging from Beltran to Eric Chavez to Andruw Jones to Freddy Garcia to Colon to Kuroda to keep the team afloat while building up their minors.

If you look after the 2011 offseason, they pretted much stopped giving free agents long-term deals (more than 3-4 years), with the exceptions of Tanaka and Ellsbury.

Without making any claims regarding my belief on if these Yankees are juicing or not, I'm not surprised that the Yankees are now kicking ass at developing talent.

The Yankees have more resources than any other team in baseball and it's not even close. They used to buy talent because that's where they had a marked advantage over other teams. As that shifted due to luxury tax and free agency rules changes, they shifted their resources to scouting and development.

They're a monster franchise. They're also a bunch of fags.

Isn't that his MO?

If Charlie Morton was doing this on the Yankees, he'd have 800 threads about him cheating

I start one, he wants to talk about a 21 year old top 2 prospect on the Yankees being on PEDs cause he's actually playing like a top 2 prospect

That's his MO

It's actually pretty common for MLB sluggers to dwarf their minors power numbers...

Here are some examples of notable sluggers over the years who weren't prolific HR hitters in the minors:

-Griffey: hit 27 minors HR in 465 ABs
-Bagwell: hit 6 minors HR in 731 ABs
-Pujols: hit 19 minors HR in 490 ABs
-Thome: 52 minors HRs in 1457 ABs
-Trout: 23 minors HR in 1126 ABs

And you could go on and on...

If you want a good example from your Astros currently:
Correa hit 28 total HR in 1128 minors ABs, then hit 22 HR in 387 ABs in his rookie year

Many of the guys who end up hitting 30+ HRs weren't hitting 30+ HRs in the minors

Gleyber Torres was not a no. 2 because of his power potential. "It is weird"
