Ritchie fits right in with those guys IMO. They're just bodies. A cup contender limits the number of guys like that on the ice.

(I think Weal and Raffl could be fine 4th liners)
Weal and Raffl could be fine fourth liners but a player who makes less money and had more points than both cant be? Not to mention weal and his -10 last season

I mean sure he can be, but they already have Weal and Raffl. I'm fine adding Ritchie if they don't already have Weal, Raffl, Weise, Lehtera, and Laughton already as 4th line at best type guys. Which is what they are IMO. If you find a way to move out 3-4 of those guys then bring in Ritchie i'm ready to listen. Just a heck of a lot of work / trading to add a 4th liner.

And I don't think Ritchie is much of an upgrade (if he is at all) to a 4th line of Weal-Laughton-Raffl, which IMO is the optimal 4th line for them right now. The offseason goal should be ensuring they have 9 forwards above those 3 guys in overall talent. By my count they're at 6.5 (28, 14, 11, 19, 93, 17, with 54 being the half).

This is what Hexy needs to do and that is start getting rid of guys making money beyond their output.

A lot of it goes away next summer. Lehtera, Weal, and Raffl are all free agents next summer. Raffl might be able to get a draft pick, Weal probably doesn't generate interest, and you're only getting rid of Lehtera by giving up something with him just to move him. You could buy Lehtera out, but Hexy doesn't seem to be planning on that. (No buyout, take the 4.7M hit this season. If you buy him out, it's 1.7M this season and 1.7M next season).

Weise, we're just screwed on Weise until 2020. But it's 2.35M, it's hardly the worst contract to have to eat. And actually next summer his buyout is pretty attractive. If you buy him out next summer, it's a 1.2M hit next season (down from 2.35M) and a 583K hit for 20/21.

So pretty easily you're out from 4 of those next summer.

We only have four players signed beyond the next two seasons. Couturier and Ghost look like steals too. So, as of right now, it will be an empty slate almost completely. Should be interesting to see what contracts guys like Hagg (this summer), Konecny and then Provorov get (next summer).

Get ready for Lehtera, Raffl, Weal, MacDonald, Gudas, Neuvy and Elliott to be gone soon. Their replacements should be better and cheaper.

That and you have to expect guys like Simmonds, Provorov, Konecny, Patrick and Lindblom will all be even better next season. This is mostly due to maturity and growth as younger players, but also contract years and being healthy.

We should all expect to improve in the offseason too. This has always been a team that spends to the cap ceiling repeatedly to keep competitive and I expect nothing less again. That said, we have a pretty decent team already.

I suspect Hexy won't be signing free agents to long term deals this summer though unless they are elite level players that are not past their prime. Lots of money available to offer players, but not a lot of years, because we don't want to get stuck with anymore situations like MacDonald.

Ya.. if that stuff is true I wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole. Team chemistry/culture is more important than 25 goals. Sens are in a bad spot here, no wonder everyone has come out and said Hoffman is definitely moving in the past couple weeks.
Flyers wives run a carnival. Maybe the Sens want to look into the family bonding also bonding.

UPDATED: Team officials and Hoffman knew about harassment allegations for weeks, agent says

Guess this makes Hoffman a lot cheaper to get or taboo to some teams.
I will admit that I have been out of the loop on the hockey world of late. However, this name Hoffman just came to mind because lately I have seen his name everywhere of late. I went onto hockeybuzz and read a column from the Sens blogger. This guy Hoffman (at least his fiancee is a psychopath). No fucking way would I touch this player , even for a bag of pucks to take him. I don't give a fuck if he scored 40 goals. This dude is with a chick who sounds like a evil bitch that probably most of us hooked up with at some point in our life. The Sens are fucked because they have to lose him for anything they can get (no leverage) in the trade. Karllson will probably have to get dealt with imo because of the messy situation. I would take Karllson, but a hell no to Hoffman. That girl of his needs to get some serious therapy.

Well said Mall but i think if he was a 40 goal scorer the Sens would have an easier time finding someone to take him.

As NHL trade rumors swirl, here are 11 players who could be dealt this offseason

Both made the list.

Does this make Karlsson cheaper to get also?
It's funny because now with Hextall running the show, the Flyers are never being discussed anywhere with trades or rumors. Our past GMs, the Flyers were linked to almost every trade rumor on the planet, lol. I kind of miss the rumor mill though. No headlines for our boys these days. Gotta give credit to Hextall for keeping things closed publicly.

I don't think it'll make Karlsson cheaper. I think that's going to be a massive return if he is moved.

I don't understand why people keep bringing up Hamilton in trade stuff. Why would the Flames move him? 5.75 through 2021 for a top pair dman is a steal. His rationale is akin to trading Provorov because you have Sanheim and Myers. Doesn't make sense.

ROR, Skinner, Pacioretty, and Kessel would all be interesting though. Enough to kick the tires. As mentioned before, Skinner is my guy as far as trading for a scoring winger goes.

Mm. Maybe I don't like ROR so much. 5 more years at 7.5 is a bit steep.
