Just imagine if we did...
You had a weaker division last year. No need to imagine. Seattle still didn't make the playoffs.
Good luck this year. Stay positive it just means you'll get a better draft pick and the way Seattle's recent drafts have been they'll need it.

I'll always be as positive as I can be for my team but at the same time I'm gonna realize we may not be as good as we have been in years past

Careful you may lose your 12 card with comments like that.

There's a fine line between being positive and being realistic. Yes I want the best for my team but I also know that sometimes you can't make these irrational predictions. I'd like to see them win the division and get a 1st round by but at the same time I'd be perfectly ok with a 9-7/10-6 season with a wild-card berth.

I bet Calgary is real proud you're a resident:thumb:

It's a city of a million people. So, about as much as Seattle or Tacoma is proud of you?

No way. I'm sure Calgary is much more proud of you.

Seattle could have a bad year, but if they do it won't be because they "ignored" the OL, or "couldn't keep everyone like we predicted", or "got old." It will be because it's a challenge to bring in 2 new coordinators, a new OL coach, and new starters on both lines and get off to a good start and/or put that all together quick enough in the season to contend. But having the QB is a huge advantage, and there are some legit reasons to think they will be able to run the ball a lot better than the last couple seasons.

I think the team is close to the same place it was back in 2011 when guys like Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman, Doug Baldwin, KJ Wright, and even Earl Thomas (top prospect but not proven) were nobodies. Now it's Shaq Griffin, Naz Jones, Jarran Reed, Tedric Thompson, Delano Hill, and Tre Flowers. A few of those guys hit like back in 2011/12, then this team will be good again and soon. Again, big advantage to this turnover is the team already has the QB.

The odds of them coming close to that group of players you listed is slim to none. You are talking about 3 All-Pro players and some Pro Bowl players all in one draft. That kind of draft happens once every 5-10 years for a team if that. And you are not just talking about them hitting but hitting as the top players at their respective positions kind of hit.

It also helps to have smart coaches who get the very best out of their players. That plays a part in it too.

Eh.. Wilson will keep them competitive and they added a ton of blocking on the O-Line (Dickson, Fluker, and best blocking prospect TE in the last several years). The D-Line is surprisingly deep and Jordan can add some pass rush from the edge along with Jones who is returning from injury. Clark will likely depart after this year because he'll command high money.

I'd say the wheels would fall off in 2-3 years or so when Wilson ages and can't run around like a chicken with it's head cut off.

Not sure I get the Seattle pessimism. I think they'll be okay for the next couple years. Sherman is coming off a major injury, Bennett is going on 34 and has the most snaps of any DL in the past 5 years I believe... Avril was already injured last season. I'm not sure why getting 'rid' of these 3 players is all of the sudden a shock. IMO it's smart football management.

I've generally disagreed with Seattle's football moves in the past (Graham, Harvin, trading picks, etc.), I am 100% onboard with what they've done this offseason.

They made the right move in cutting those players but that doesn't mean the team is actually in a better place because they are gone. Talent walked out the door this offseason and for Seattle to have any chance at success some surprising unknown players have to rise up and be something great. There are teams out there with a much more established roster with known pieces of the puzzle. Doesn't mean Seattle can't be successful but they have a lot more "what if" kind of questions surrounding their roster than in years past.

How much can you bank on the new coaching staff to actually do that? KNJ got ran out of town in Oakland because they had one of the worst defenses in football. Why does he come to Seattle and all of a sudden become a good DC?

Could say that about a lot of rookie QB's that eventually panned out. Jared Goff is a great recent example of a terrible rookie year and everybody thought he was a bust then boom has a great 2nd year.

Trubisky last year had very few weapons to work with so I'm not willing to put all the struggles of that team on him by any means. They went out and got him some weapons this offseason so if he still can't produce then definitely some of the bust conversation can be talked about.
I'm not closing the book on him, I have just seen nothing to indicate he can lead that team. This year should tell the story.
