This will be my final update until I get released.

Had a quart of blood taken for every conceivable test and exam. The Doc was amazed because I'm either normal or above normal for everything. So I'm a full go.

Wednesday (1/4) afternoon I get admitted to the New England Heart Institute at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
Wednesday evening I'll meet with the entire surgical team and the anesthesiologist. I'll have about 15-20 minutes of cardiological education and they'll go over the entire procedure.

Then I'll go to sleep and the surgical nurses will wake me up at 5:00 AM on Thursday morning (1/5). They'll prep me and I'll get my first dose of relaxant. At 6:15 AM I'll be rolled into the surgical theatre and get my dose of twilight sleep. No machines, I'll breathe on my own. At Approx. 6:30 AM they'll slow down my heartbeat about half and the Cardiological Surgeon will insert a tube into my femoral artery in my right groin and then he'll send a camera and TAVAR up to my heart. Once he gets the rhythm of my heartbeat, he'll insert the TAVAR into my aortic valve and hopefully the TAVAR will not miss a beat. If it sets in place, my heartbeat will slow down even more to about 1/3 normal. They'll give me something to eliminate the drugs that slowed me down and most likely my heart will be working much better and the normal heartbeat will be reduced by 12-15 beats a minute because the valve will allow more blood from one side to the other. Someone has to keep pressure on my groin while the tube is removed and keep it on while an air pressure bandage is applied to keep the artery closed. Should take about four hours to heal and then they'll start letting air out.

About 7:15 AM I'll be rolled into the Recovery Room and should be back in my hospital bed by 9:30-10:00.

If all goes well, I'll be released sometime Friday and should be back on SportsHoopla Saturday.

I'm Hoooome.......

Doctor said the procedure was textbook perfect. This morning the surgeon came to see me and showed my wife and I then actual video of my heart valve being put into place. Absolutely incredible.

The best part was Thursday morning at 5:00 AM. One of the most gorgeous Asian women I've ever seen in my life in pictures or live, shaved my entire body from my neck to my ankles. Then she helped me wash myself with an antibacterial soap.

Procedure took about an hour and I was asleep through the whole thing. I swear I felt like a million bucks when I woke up in Recovery.

I'm a hurtin' puppy right now. My right groin had a 1" diameter hole to put the valve in and the artery has to be stitched. My left side has a quarter inch hole but I have an 8" dia. bruise. I have to have help standing up and sitting down. Needless to say, sex is out of the question for at least two weeks. Worse, I can't drive for 7 days because the foot going from gas to brake could pop the artery.

Low fat, Low sodium for the rest of my life.

Happy to have you back and covering. Don't worry about all the holes and stitches. The fact that you are even talking about sex is good!!!!!

Had to take a day off. First time in my life I had to take a nap after taking a shower. They told me that any exertion would kick my ass, but I never expected it to be that much of an ass kicking.

Today is much better, too bad the football games have sucked so badly.

I recently had surgery- 3 chest tubes to drain infection. The first time I walked upstairs after getting home I nearly passed out.

Put yer feet up, watch the games, and ask the wife to help.

I'd blame it more on the football games rather than the surgery, lol. They'd put anyone to sleep.

I'm not very technical with my phone, but I found a 24/7 Patriots Radio broadcast. To be honest, I'm not sure I could just plug in and listen to constant banter about anything. But knowing it's out there might get mke to drop in once Training Camp opens.
