Allen would be a better pickup imo. They replace what they lost in Roberson. To an extent.

Allen a few years ago would replace Roberson. Allen today might give them 10 minutes a night. Don't get me wrong. I hope they get him. But what they really need is some scoring off the bench. Patterson has been a huge disappointment.
Westbrook has been one of if not the best player in the league. George has settled in and is a top 15 player. Mello is what he is. A good scorer and has even tried on defense and rebounding. I was never a Mello fan but I've been very impressed with his effort not only on defense but also trying to change his game to fit the role the Thunder need him to play. Team player has never been his thing but that's what he's done this season. Adams will never be a star but he fits great with the other players on the team. If he could get any type of game away from the rim he could be a top 5 center. But then there's nothing. Abrines has been a huge disappointment. Grant is above average. Huestis has shown why the Thunder kept him in the D league. Ferguson should be a good player but not this season. The bench lives and dies with Felton.

I don't think there is any way this group helps convince James to stay but it gives them a solid nucleus (along with the Nets pick) to rebuild quicker. Love will be back to being the #1 option like when he was in Minny.
