IF MLB had a real commissioner, say like Bowie Kuhn, Stanton would still be in Miami.
I mean, if I'm one of those 27, I don't care that the team is unpopular. I wouldn't want the team to just dump salary.Yeah, people just love to hate Jeter
Cant believe the outcry over a team thats eliminated in June every year from playoff contention, and have 27 fans show up every night
"How dare they break up this team"
huh?

Stanton, sure. I get it.They were simply in no position to carry a $300 million player in that financial enviorment
The argument can be made Jeter should have gotten a better return, which is very debatable considering Stanton was calling the shots here, but hard to blame him for dumping that salary if they truly want to build a contending team at some point

Ozuna? 2 more years of cheap control.
Plus the word that Yelich and Realmuto could be moved? I said a few years ago that the Marlins were in a shitty position. Not bad enough to draft high, not good enough to compete, no money for free agents, and a shitty farm system. You can take care of 2 of those problems by selling high on these guys, but no one is offering you A+ packages when you are just dumping guys who now don't want to be there. This should have been a drawn out process where they wait for the best package and rebuild their farm through trades and the draft. Obviously the new ownership shouldn't be getting all the blame, they are trying to play catch up from the last owner's mistakes. But I still think they are going about this the wrong way.Agreed, no reason Ozuna didnt bring back an A+ package
