Who should be the Heisman front runner be?

Bryce Love is my homer pick for runner-up, because that is what Stanford does. He has 1088 rushing yards on 98 carries through 5 games.

That's part of the problem right there: "What Stanford does". They always have a crazy high stat rusher because that's the system they run. Few teams in the P5 are as committed to the run as Stanford and few have the beef on the lines to spring those holes for them.

Not knocking him at all. He had some really nice runs this week for sure. Can elude tackles in open field runs.

I get that Barkley has way more receiving yards but does it make up 500 yards of rushing? and 4 TD?
386 yards receiving for Barkley with 2 TD vs 5 yards for Love and 0 TD.

One plays on a top 5 team where their play gets seen by the majority of the voters, and is of more impact. The two losses for Stanford hurt them, but you can bet his stock is rising. A few more big days against big defenses and it will move up more. Break 200y against Utah and it will turn some heads.

Hard as hell to win the Heisman on a team not even in the top 25. When few had even heard your name going into the season AND you are on a team not ranked you are behind the 8 ball on that.

He has only 386 yards receiving and two receiving TDs to Love's 5 yards receiving no receiving TDs.

Barkley has 258 kick return yards and 1 return TD with 8 kick returns. Love has 5 kick returns for 47 return yards and no TD.

Barkley has one pass for 16 yard touchdown. Love doesn't have a pass.

Barkley is ahead of Love because he is used in more than rushing. That is why a true pocket passer probably won't win over a mobile QB.

It has a lot to do with timezones.

I don't think it is time zone as much as it is, Stanford has already lost 2 games. As much as we'd like to think the Heisman goes to the best player, it usually goes to the best player on one of the best teams.

And unfortunately for Love, his team has lost to USC and SDSU. Not his fault, but that is how the Heisman usually goes. Last year though would have been a great year to put up a season like he is with multiple losses.

Lot of games to be played, so we will see how it plays out.

If not...Then Love should be the leader. Even with 4 losses or so, that would verify his
spot. If that guy can run for over 2 bills on a 4 loss team...HE IS the best player in CFB

Well ya, since I was a kid the award has been stupid. It's usually the best QB or RB on the best team. With Alabama's recent Heisman none of them were the best college football player on the team. Last year was shocking because most years Jackson wouldn't have been anything more than a token invite to the ceremony.

The Heisman is given to the most visually appealing player IMO. Love is boring. He gets the ball and runs. Barkley is hurdling defenders, receiving the ball, does good returning picks. He is fun to watch. Not saying that should make him better or more deserving. It is just the way it seems it is most years.
