Patriots Trade CB Justin Coleman To Seahawks
September 1st, 2017 at 1:27pm CST by Zach Links
The Patriots have sent cornerback Justin Coleman back to the Seahawks, according to ESPN’s Field Yates (on Twitter). New England receives a late round draft pick in the swap.

Coleman, 23, has seen action in 20 games and racked up three starts in his two-year career. The Patriots first plucked him off of the Seahawks’ taxi squad in 2015. This offseason, he re-upped with the Pats via the exclusive rights tender. He apparently wasn’t going to make the 53-man cut on Saturday, so the Patriots have parlayed him into a future draft choice. Seattle, meanwhile, won’t have to worry about the waiver process or competing clubs in free agency in order to make the reunion happen.

I know, right? When I heard it last night, I was so excited. The two pitchers most owned by the Indians are now on their main AL competitors.

Oh, happy day.

I just took a look at the Indians' schedule for the rest of the season.

30 games. 16 home, 14 away.

14 games against DET & CHW, with a combined win% of .417, and then another 4 against KCR, who are below .500.

The remaining twelve against BAL, LAA, SEA and MIN.

That's a pleasant schedule.

Seahawks To Acquire Sheldon Richardson From Jets In Exchange For Jermaine Kearse
September 1st, 2017 at 2:04pm CST by Dallas Robinson
This is breaking news. Please Sheldon Richardson from the Jets in exchange for wide receiver Jermaine Kearse draft considerations, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

New York, of course, has been shopping Richardson for some time, and while Seattle reportedly showed interest earlier this year, the club wanted Richardson to accept a paycut from his $8.069MM base salary. Whether Richardson has now done so is unclear, but the Seahawks did clear cap space today by reworking receiver Doug Baldwin‘s contract, and are shedding Kearse’s $2.2MM salary.

Richardson certainly has his warts, which may have contributed to a limited trade market. For one, he wasn’t all that effective last season, as Richardson managed only 1.5 sacks in 15 games (though he still graded out as the NFL’s No. 31 edge defender, per Pro Football Focus). Richardson also comes with off-field question marks, as he has a substance abuse suspension in his past, and has dealt with commitment and tardiness issues.

But, if healthy and motivated, the addition of Richardson would give the Seahawks arguably the best front seven in the NFL. Richardson, who can conceivably play either along the edge or on the interior, would join a Seattle defensive unit that also includes Michael Bennett, Frank Clark, Cliff Avril, Bobby Wager, and K.J. Wright on the front end, and the vaunted Legion of Boom in the back end.

Sanchez will be a Perennial .270 30/100 guy

But Bird will be the Yankees best hitter for a long time

Judge will be lucky to be Adam Dunn, which isn't completely horrific

Adam Dunn holds the record for longest homerun ever in like 5 different ballparks.

Indians have a chance also, no doubt...

Any team that makes the postseason has a chance, and I don't mind you thinking the Astros have the best chance, I just don't think they're the "hands down favorite."

I think the Astros played way over their heads in the first half based largely on a particularly weak schedule, and their 24-26 record over their last fifty supports that.

I think Verlander might help them hold on to the best record, but frankly, I don't think he's a difference maker against the Indians should they meet in the postseason. The Indians historically hit him well (4.71 career ERA vs Tribe) and something like 8+ ERA over his last four starts against them.
