I, for one, have thought all along cutting Brissett would be a bad decision. But that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from creating skepticism around Brissett’s standing with the team

There’s some justification to that skepticism. The Patriots don’t like carrying three quarterbacks. Whenever they can, they avoid it. Brissett also had poor outings in the first two preseason games, and didn’t play in the third. In Weeks 1 and 2 of preseason, Brissett had the opportunity to lead a fourth-quarter comeback drive. He needed touchdowns in both instances, but scored one in neither.

Under the pressure of the rostering drama and potentially getting cut, Brissett put on a show in Week 4 with five total touchdowns and over 300 passing yards. But when a tree falls on a football field in Week 4 of the NFL preseason, doesn’t anyone hear it? Will Brissett’s performance against scrubs be enough to solidify his spot? The answer is likely yes — which is why him getting cut would be shocking.
