Brian Herrien. I was anticipating a lot of Elijah Hollyfield, but Herrien has been a beast.

The USC song girls. With all the talk about the USC offense,Juju,Max Browne,etc... To see them lead the team in scoring is pretty impressive. I have to give them credit

On offense -- True Freshman Chris Evans has to be the biggest surprise. 48 carries for 400 yards w/ 8.3 YPC With every RB returning, I didn't see any freshman contributing, unless it was Kareem Walker. Evans has been a tremendous change of pace back.

On defense -- Ben Gedeon and Mike McCray (sp) -- lost all of our LB's, but these two guys are 1st year starters and have been tremendous thus far. Combined for almost 90 tackles, 13 TFL, 5 pass breaks up and 6 sacks between the 2. At a position that was supposed to be a weakness, outside of Peppers -- it has more than held its own.

I don't think I'd put him in the "surprise" category. He was very highly recruited and was expected to be the man this year. Hes just finally healthy these past 2 games.

Emmanuel Beal for me. 2 star JUCO kid who I think didn't even deserve to be on the field at first. (especially with 2 5* star guys behind him on the depth chart). But when you actually watch him, he's flying around everywhere. Plays way bigger than his size too. Has 38 tackles and a sack so far in year 1.

Offense:Walk on center Erick Wren. Gave a former starter in Alvarez quite a battle in the offseason and wasnt even on scholarship until two weeks ago but I'd say he's more than held his own since getting the starting job.
Video: Oklahoma walk-on Erick Wren awarded scholarship
This. 1st 2 guys I thought of.

Badgers:

Since everyone on offense is gutter trash I'll go with somebody from the defensive side of the ball.

I have to go with Tindal at CB. With the exception of the play which he slipped and the wolverines were able to score on a perfect pass bomb (he almost broke up with elite closing speed) which was the game winning TD he's been locking down WR's every game.

After that I'd say the fact that we're 9 deep at LB has been impressive. Literally all these guys will be in the NFL while 3 of them could be in the NFL now if they wanted to.

Jerod Evans, our JUCO transfer who has turned out to be statistically one of the best QBs in the country thus far

Marlon Davidson the true freshman DE. He is a monster
Not really a surprise, I knew he was gonna be awesome. I'd go with Deshaub Davis. Dude has been flying all over the field like a madman.

I anticipated Lattimore showcasing his talent, I'm just thankful that he seems healthy to finally show it to the world. It seems like he's taken care of his hamstring issues, and with a heavy rotation of players in the secondary, he can stay fresh.

By far for TTU, it has to be Jonathan Giles. He was seen as a good receiver for the team, but through 5 games now he has 614 yards, with 7 TDs, and averaging 18 yards per catch. This is on a team that throws to at least 10 receivers every game.
