Or if you don't have many 5 stars, top 4 stars. I went back to 2010, and stopped at 2017. Cause...I feel like it.

2011
Curtis Grant - Solid contributor, but didn't live up to the hype (Undrafted)
Braxton Miller - Panned out. Unfortunate he got injured. (Third Round)

2012
Noah Spence - Started off so promising, but he fucked up, and got kicked out. Ultimately, bust. (Second Round)
Adolphus Washington - Solid contributor. Wouldn't say a bust. (Third Round)

2013
Vonn Bell - Panned out (Second Round)
Jalin Marshall - Bust (Undrafted)

2014
Raekwon McMillan - Panned out. (Second Round)

2015
Justin Hilliard - So far, bust, but he has an opportunity to be a solid contributor. (Still in school)

2016
Nick Bosa - Obviously panned out. (First Round)

2017
Chase Young - Obviously, panned out (First Round)
Jeff Okudah - Panned out (First Round)
Baron Browning - Solid Contributor (Still in school)
Shaun Wade - Not done yet, but expected to pan out (Still in school)
Wyatt Davis - Not done yet, but expected to pan out (Still in school)

14 total. 3 first round. 3 second. 2 third. 2 undrafted. 4 still in school.

6 success. 2 expected success. 4 (potential) solid contributors. 2 busts.
Defensively, we have a pretty good track record. But offensively we keep throwing guys in the trash. DPJ and Patterson were both the #1 recruit at their position in HS, DPJ barely got drafted in the 6th round and Patterson was literally the last player to sign an undrafted free agent contract with an NFL team. And the previous 5 star offensive skill player we got, Derrick Green, was also just terrible. Honestly, it's been one of the biggest failures of the last decade IMO; developing an NFL QB or RB, we've done neither.

TE CJ Fiedorowicz - 1st Team All-B1G, 3rd round pick

Played against him in the playoffs in high school. Came within a few yards of beating their team. They had a kicker who was knocking them down from 50+ yards in warmups and a FG proved to be the clincher. That dude was built like a goddamn truck compared to the rest of us. Bigger than every one of our linemen. Truly a "men amongst the boys" situation

Although he did good and part of the list that makes Iowa TE U, I felt he underachieved. Wasn't at the level as Dallas Clark, Noah Fant, and TJ Hockinson. I would put him at the same level as Tony Moeaki.

He should have been in the race for Mackey, but wasn't.

His injury history is really what made him not so great in the NFL. Seems like every time he was on the field, he just got hurt.

32 Players, 3 gone before sophomore year, of the remain 29, 12 First rounders, 5 2nd rounders, 4 others drafted, 1 other NFL active, 5 still on the roster.

I found a few more just now. I did those posts on my phone half awake. I've always thought Ferentz had 2 5* recruits and just figured the 2nd one was before 2005. I didn't realize Tony Moeaki was, but he is only 4* on Rivals and ESPN. Epenesa was all around 5*.

2011: La’el Collins- starter for most of his tenure. Should have been a first round pick but had something happen before the draft that unfortunately made him sign as an UDFA.

Anthony Johnson- serviceable player. Never lived up to the hype but had moments. Signed as an UDFA.

Jarvis Landry- great career considering who the HC was. Drafted 62nd has been pretty successful in the NFL.

2014: Leonard Fournette- great career at LSU despite having an injury his Jr season. Drafted 4th overall has had mixed results in the NFL.

Malachi Dupree- was a decent wideout. Left too soon and was drafted in the 7th round. Hasn’t played much in the NFL.

Clifton Garrett- not sure if he played a snap. Transferred to UAB. Haven’t heard anything of him.

Jamal Adams- great player at LSU. Drafted in the first round. Has been successful in the NFL.

2015: Kevin Toliver- played 3 years was average. Signed as an UDFA.

Tyron Johnson- transferred out of LSU after seeing minimal playing time.

Maea Teuhema- played minimally at LSU where I once witnessed him tell someone at a restaurant after he was given a total for a meal he was ‘a football player’ swagged out in gear. Transferred to Southeastern LA.

2016: Kristian Fulton- big part of the secondary on LSU’s national title season, an unsung hero. Late second round pick in 2020 draft.

Rashad Lawrence- solid career. Did not live up to the 5 star billing but a great player. Drafted in the 4th round of the 2020 draft.

2017: JaCoby Stevens- bounced around a ton in terms of position. Found himself as a major contributor on defense on last years team, will return next year.

2018: Terrace Marshall- had a solid year last season. Will be the number 2 wideout behind Ja’Marr Chase next year.

2019: Derek Stingly- incredible freshman year. Will likely be the first db to come off the board when that time comes.

Marcell Brooks- played a decent bit last season, looks to have a promising career.

John Emery- was 4th on the depth chart last year. Got some touches but appeared to have difficulty learning the offense. Possible transfer but I am hoping not.

Found another one that 247sports doesn't show he committed anywhere but played for Iowa his entire college career.

2007 4-star
CB Jordan Bernstine

Yeah, I got bored.
In last 11 NFL Drafts (2010 NFL Draft - 2020 NFL Draft), Iowa has had 42 Draft Picks.

By Recruiting Stars (247sports)
5* = 2
4* = 10
3* = 25
2* = 5

By Rounds
Round 1 = 7
Round 2 = 4
Round 3 = 7
Round 4 = 9
Round 5 = 8
Round 6 = 2
Round 7 = 5
By Position
QB = 3
RB = 0
WR = 1
TE = 5
OT = 6
OG = 2
C = 2
DE = 5
DT = 3
LB = 5
CB = 7 (Jordan Bernstine played CB first 3 years and S his final year. I am counting him at CB because that is what he played in NFL)
S = 3
HS Class
2005 = 3
2006 = 6
2007 = 7
2008 = 2
2009 = 1
2010 = 6
2011 = 1
2012 = 3
2013 = 2
2014 = 1
2015 = 3
2016 = 4
2017 = 3
Here is the Google Sheets that I put together for this -

too early on both.

I always hate when someone says someone isn't a 5 Star when they're considered a 5 Star by everyone but the one service that person is looking at. So these are Clemson's 5 Stars in either 247 or Rivals.

2011
  • Sammy Watkins – WR – Three time first team All American, First Round Pick
  • Mike Bellamy – RB – Kicked off team for academic reasons
  • Tony Steward –LB – Injured most of career, Sixth Round Pick
  • Stephone Anthony – LB – First Team All-ACC , First Round Pick
2013
  • Mackensie Alexander – CB – All American, Second Round Pick
2014
  • Deshaun Watson – QB – 2x O’Brien (should have won Heisman), First Round Pick
2015
  • Deon Cain – WR – All ACC, Sixth Round Pick
  • Ray-Ray McCLoud – ATH – Sixth Round Pick
  • Christian Wilkins- DT – Three time first team All-American, First Round Pick
  • Mitch Hyatt – OT – All American, Inexplicably not drafted but plays for Dallas
2016
  • Shaq Smith – LB – never became starter and transferred to Maryland
  • Tre Lamar – LB – All ACC, undrafted but signed with Lions until injury
  • Dexter Lawrence – DT – Three time All American, First Round
2017
  • Hunter Johnson – QB – Transferred to Northwestern, still there
  • Tee Higgins – WR – Two time All-ACC, Second Round Pick
  • AJ Terrell – CB – All ACC, First Round Pick
2018
  • Trevor Lawrence – QB - Two Time All-ACC, basically guaranteed first round pick
  • Xavier Thomas- DE – All ACC
  • KJ Henry- DE – hasn’t done much yet
  • Jackson Carman – OT - All ACC, Absolute beast, manhandled Chase Young all game long
  • Derion Kendrick – WR – All ACC, played WR and cornerback
  • Justyn Ross- WR – No awards, but you guys all know him
2019
  • Andrew Booth – CB – Backup last year
  • Joe Ngata – WR – Backup to Higgins last year, but looked good
2020
  • Bryan Bresee – DT - TBD
  • Myles Murphy – DE - TBD
  • Demarkcus Bowman – RB - TBD
  • DJ Uiagalelei - QB - TBD
  • Trenton Simpson – LB - TBD
  • Demonte Capehart – DT - TBD
30 5 Stars this decade. 14 are still on the Clemson's roster. Of the 16 who aren’t still at Clemson, 6 were first round picks, 2 were second round picks, 3 were drafted later, and 2 made a roster in camp. Two transferred away because they couldn’t get a starting spot and still play for other schools. One was kicked off for Academic reasons, and was the only real disappointment..

Composite 5 Stars Since 2015..

2015- LB Malik Jefferson- 3rd round pick
2018- S Caden Sterns entering his 3rd season, promising freshman year, but has battled injuries second half of freshman and all of last season.
- S BJ Foster, same as above
2019- WR Bru McCoy already transferred back to SC.. apparently patient zero to Covid
- WR/RB Jordan Whittington, played in opener then tore his groin again
2020- RB Bijan Robinson-TBD

This is the reason why Tom Herman is getting a bad rap when it comes to development at UT. It's obviously going to change for the next NFL draft which coincidentally he recruited a 3 star OT in his transition class and will be a day 1 pick next April.

They were talking about top recruits at OSU on one of the radio programs that day, and I thought it would be an interesting topic to talk about, since there isn't anything else going on.
