In his 1st start for Peoria Alex Stalock made 31 saves on 31 shots in a 1-0 win. In his three apperances with the Rivermen Stalock has stopped 53 of 55 shots.

Niemi Who? :p

More Stalock news. He broke his finger in practice today and will probably be out the remainder of the regular season and PO's.

He needs to stop winning games 1-0. That's what happened when he was a Shark then he messed up his knee.

QMJHL leading scorer Yanni Gourde has officially signed an ATO with Woosta. No news yet if there is an ELC with San Jose as well.

Do other teams sign as many undrafted UFAs as the Sharks? Seems like Doug wants to make up for lost picks with these signings.

Abeltshauser has signed a 3 year ELC. He will report to Worcester when his team is eliminated from the CHL PO's.

Cmon, you have any info on these guys for us?

Gourde is lightning quick with both speed and agility. He sees the ice very well and has a good shot but is a pass first player. Respectable defensively as well. He's listed at something like 5'8 and 165lbs though he's probably closer to 5'10 and 180lbs but he plays bigger than he is. Best comparison I could make is David Desharnias with Montreal.

Abeltshauser is a big, mobile, shutdown dman who is good at moving the puck and doesn't shy away from physical play. He also has a cannon of a shot. Won his teams skill competition clocked at 103+ mph. I'd like to see him get that shot off quicker though. His defensive positioning and play reading were the knock on him his draft year but he has made huge improvements in both those areas especially this year. He also had some skating issues that have been fixed.

To bad they let sucksmith walk and are stuck with heemsheet. Atleast sucksmith had some trade value since he won a cup in Jrf's and had a decent year finally as a pro

Also shocked Mclaren got QO'D

I remember when the Sharks signed MacIntyre they were talking about how he was nearly NHL ready. That sure didn't pan out. I was slightly surprised that they didn't offer Ferriero. Otherwise no other surprises IMO.
