The Big 10 plays no harder bowl games than the big 12 or SEC.

Over the last 10 years, the Big Ten has played 55% of their bowl games against ranked teams. The Big 12 has played 48% against the same. What in the world makes you think the Big 12 plays as tough a bowl schedule as the Big Ten?

What percent of the B10 teams were ranked as well?

If it's comparable to your opponent but the B12 is at say 10% of their teams ranked vs 48% ranked then obviously the B12 faced a tougher slate.

Where did you get your stats from? It's interesting but a little bit more is involved than just the numbers you brought.

You can't judge a bowl game based on toughness relative to only the team playing, it's a cumulative perspective. That's like saying it's a tougher slate for #24 to face #18 than for #5 to face #1.

I agree that the numbers brought don't make the point. I could bring a bunch of numbers that indicate the same, but I was simply asking why would make anybody think the Big 12's schedule was comparable, while giving enough to make a point and not spend a lot of effort.

If you went to delve deep into this, I'm all for it. However, I don't see why how good the teams are that are playing matters in how tough a schedule is.

If Team A plays:

X 6-5
Y 10-2
Z 5-6

And Team B plays:

X 6-5
Y 10-2
Z 5-6

Both teams played the teams schedule regardless if one went 10-1 and the other went 1-10. The schedule strength is the same, regardless of how good the team is. Your scenario might indicate that the Big 12 might have a tougher road, but that doesn't mean it affects schedule strength.

No it's not.

If the B1G is facing over 50% of ranked teams, what % of the B1G teams were ranked in the same time frame?

If only 10% of the B12 is ranked and 45% of the B1G was ranked against their opponents the B12 got the harder draw.

I'm not arguing for the B12, I just think theres more to the numbers than saying look we faced more ranked opponents than you so we had a rougher draw.

More to it than that.

The Big 12 only has 10 teams now so even our "even" match ups with the Big 10 aren't really even. Educate yourself man and stop making excuses for the Big 10 losing bowl games.

Its cyclical. Coaching and recruiting has been lagging a bit in the B1G recently. It'll come around.

personally I see college football as a very cyclical undertaking. It is now in the scoring explosion part of the cycle, defenses were extremly stout recently, and I can see a slight shift starting towards the power run game , especially in the B1G.

Our time is coming again and it will leave the finesse offenses scratching their collective heads.

#8 Little Caesar's - MAC #2

How the hell is that harder? You even have two bowls against non-AQ's. You also don't have a single matchup against another AQ conference where you are playing up against a team that finished higher in the conference standings. Both the Big 12 and SEC have multiple games like that.

Not to mention the SEC generally has a team in the BCSNCG so that makes the rest of the SEC have to play up even more than they would otherwise.

More times than not the B1G also has a second BCS team pushing everyone up a spot.

How is it harder? I'm not really interested, I just see that the results of the tie ins have given Big Ten tougher bowl opponents.

2004-2013:

27% of Big Ten opponents were in the top 10, 20% of Big 12 opponents were.

55% of Big Ten opponents were ranked, 48% of Big 12 opponents were.

95% of Big Ten opponents were major teams, 91% of Big 12 opponents were.

The win/loss record of Big 10 opponents - .720
The win/loss record of Big 12 opponents - .705

47% of Big Ten opponents were ranked higher than the Big Ten team.
42% of Big 12 opponents were ranked higher than the Big 12 team.

Not resounding, but clearly Big Ten teams played tougher opponents.

Last year's B1G-Big 12 matchups featured -

Big 12 #4 (Okie State) vs. B1G #8 (Purdue)
Big 12# 6 (Texas Tech) vs. B1G #10 (Minnesota)
The only even matchup (TCU vs. MSU) was a win for the B1G.

2011 Matchups:

Big 12 #7 Texas A&M vs. B1G #9 Northwestern
Big 12 #4 Oklahoma vs. B1G #7 Iowa

This year's only Big 12-B1G matchups is B1G #8 Michigan vs. Big 12 #5 Kansas State.

Looks like you're the one that needs the education bro.

But now you're just saying the one conference faces tougher teams because they suck more. The B1G is still facing better teams, which is the entire point of this discussion.

I'm not saying anything. I'm trying to get more insight on his numbers.

I view the discussion as who has gotten a tougher draw in bowl season. If you face better competition but are sending superior teams, how is that a harder draw than facing somewhat weaker opponents if your avg team is weaker than your opponent?

I think the general argument has always been that the B1G ends up facing much tougher opponents than other conferences. For example, see my Big 12-B1G matchups from last year. We also are routinely facing higher ranked teams in our matchups if both teams are ranked, sometimes significantly higher.

Yes they do. My karma from earlier in the season with the avys I gave out came back to me, thankfully. I "have to" have this avy til the Rose Bowl but we'll see if it maybe stays a little further.

Maize i was pretty nice to you and most people had no idea what it was of. I would have chose a pic from 1998 but most wouldn't get it and there wasn't much to choose from. Ugly pics hurt everyone, see when i had the miley chicken avy.
