I have quite a few friends that follow different teams (we all grew up in different parts of the US) who complain about their coaches all the time. Would you like to see your coach fired? Here are a few coaches I've heard about lately:

Paul Johnson - Georgia Tech: Coming into this season, Johnson has averaged 8 wins a year for 7 seasons in Atlanta. It frustrates my buddies to no end when they play great ball against great teams, and then lose to teams that are lucky to be .500.

Al Golden - Miami: Coming into this season, Golden has average 7 wins a year for 4 seasons in South Beach. Miami just hasn't been able to get back to the "Swagger" of the late 80's and late 90's. One of my friends would love to see a change. (there was a "go fund me" that was taking donations to keep flying the "fire Golden sign over Miami games...I think he donated to it)

Charlie Strong - Texas: I don't know why anyone would want to get rid of a coach in his 2nd year (he went 6-7 last year, not bad for a first year coach), but I have a few Texas fans that would like to land a "bigger fish" in coaching.

Bret Bielema - Arkansas: He has 10 wins in 2 seasons, and has started this year 1-2. He should get more time to build his team, but I've heard a few people that would rather someone else come to town.

Frank Beamer - VaTech: The guy has had an AMAZING run in Blacksburg, but the past 3 seasons haven't lived up to what many VaTech fans have grown accustomed to. I've heard him compared to Joe Paterno in terms of "he's past his prime of coaching".

Any others out there that should be added to the list? Feel free to criticize some of the guys on this list. I think a few of them don't deserve to be let go.

I cannot comment as Mike is a really nice guy. From what I understand, they quit making defensive coordinators like Mark Banker.

Shawn Eichorst, the athletic misdirector, fire him.

Mike London. Virginia football is the laughing stock of the Power 5 right now.
Not the laughing stock in just the Power 5 but in all of the NCAA, especially since they almost botched the game against D-II William & Mary last week when W&M should've been obliterated.

I don't actually know any Texas fans that want Charlie Strong gone. We recognize that this is a TOTAL rebuild. He's playing 18 freshmen, there will be ups and downs. In two years this team will be a PROBLEM assuming we keep the talent base and let him coach.

Randy Edsall needs to go. It's so hard watching this team.

I don't want my coach fired. But I wouldn't mind if he were fired if he could be replaced by one of these names that's been listed in this thread...

Frank Beamer
Charlie Strong
Paul Johnson
Bret Beilema
Chip Kelly (I heard he's not the most liked in Philly)

Hate to be that guy, but its poetic justice. Fire (I know its spelled wrong or is wrong) Frienge who was a solid coach to try and upgate by hiring a guy whose team being in the BCS called for a rule change because they sucked so bad. Maryland deserved what they got.

Friedgen was a pretty good coach, but if you take away his first three seasons he didn't do anything special. MD is trying to build a better football program. Why do they deserve to be bad? I don't get that comment. Edsall did some pretty good things at UConn. That is not an easy place to win. He just isn't the right guy to make MD a better program.

I've never thought of it that way. Sounds like similar to how there are stepping stone programs there are also stepping stone coaches is what you're saying. And, Ralph Freidgen is an example of that. Haha.

Ralph had four losing seasons in his last seven seasons at MD. He did make four bowl games in those seven seasons, but no really decent bowls. He did a great job considering where MD football was before he arrived. My only problem with Ralph was that his first three seasons he won with Ron Vanderlinde's players. Once he started to get his own recruits in, the success wasn't nearly as good. I agreed with the coaching change. Edsall just wasn't the right choice.

Just my opinion, Maryland would likely be in much better shape than they are now if Edsall didn't have a season where they lost 5 quarterbacks and had to start a linebacker at quarterback. I have to imagine that poor season didn't help anything. Going through a new coach, new offense, and 6 quarterbacks isn't a good recipe for success or recruits.
