When the coach of the BCS championship team admits its a split title, Team SEC loses all credibility. Think whatever you like, I'll agree with Saban and Mauck.

There's only 1 bcs champion...There's still 2 recognized national championship trophies...

AP polls were how it was done before the BCS, because Pac12 teams like USC hide behind the Rose Bowl to prevent #1 and #2 from playing.

#1 played #2 in the final game of the year, and the #1 team was LSU that year - in the format agreed upon by everyone to decide the national championship, including USC.

They were given an AP title, but LSU was the national champion. Everything else is just sour grapes by USC and the Pac12.

If that's the case why did LSUs coach and QB admit they won a split title? Do you think Saban isn't credible?

A "split title" is a pre-BCS term for when the Coaches and AP polls split. Which happened. However, the national champion was LSU, the BCS game winner.

Once again, the BCS format was the agreed upon format for all teams.

How many does your Bitch ass Alabama fans claim AP titles, Never mind so Alabama only has 3 NC wins?

0 since the BCS came along and determined the winner on the field making the AP poll meaningless.

The funny thing about this AP/BCS debate - if it was Alabama instead of USC it would be non-stop threads about how Alabama will claim anything.

But since it's the only still active title for the Pac12 in I don't know how many decades, the AP poll is soooooo meaningful.

The last legit National Championship for the Pac12 was Washington in 1991.

Why is USC the only PAC team to ever win an AP National Championship.
Weird.

1946 Rose Bowl. Pussy Trojans take their ball and run home after Bama beatdown. Ban everyone from participating except the B1G to save further embarrassment. :pound:

A split NATIONAL CHAMPION...no one is disputing that LSU won the BCS championship...Doesn't mean that everyone agreed they are the ONLY national championship

The BCS was created by the conferences themselves specifically to stop split titles. To have the #1 and #2 teams play each other at the end of the year and settle it on the field. It took years before it was approved by all the conferences because some conferences were more worried about protecting bowl games. So the only way the BCS could ever happen is with the approval of the conferences, no different than the playoffs(which the pac12 also blocked for many years).

The AP is just a group of sportswriters from around the country and has absolutely nothing to do with the schools/conferences, or how they decide to crown the champions. The schools have no say over it, and the AP excluded itself from being part of the BCS.

Basically, it would be like the press saying - well New England won the Super Bowl, but Denver is also the national champion - look at our shiny poll from sportswriters across the country. We don't agree with what happened on the field, so we crown our own!.

It's a bullshit claim and sour grapes. The #1 and #2 teams played on the field to settle the national champion in a format created and agreed upon by the conferences.
