You stated they have two national champions to play in state. I called you out that they have played Miami 6 times in 30 years. It's not my fault you aren't smart enough to look this stuff up before you spew your sec shit.

An stop talking shit as if Alabama is the pinnacle of scheduling occ dominance.

So in the past 30 years they have played an OOC schedule that includes 36 times of playing generally higher quality teams and you think you are calling me out on something?

Alabama plays in the SEC West. Schedule strength is generally built in.

Bahahahahahahahahahaha again I'm not calling Florida out I'm calling you out for citing Miami as apossibly reason they don't leave the state when they've only played 6 times in 30 years.

LOL at citing conference strength when talking about ooc scheduling.

If you don't understand why playing 2 tough OOC games in any year is significant, then what's the point? Most teams play 1 maximum unless they are a G5 team.

Some teams don't even play that many on a regular basis.

And the only reason you guys only want to compare OOC is because you play in easy conferences - but nobody else gives enough of a shit about it to make threads crying.

First and foremost, I'm not condemning Florida. I understand they play a tough ooc opponent every year. I'm merely stating that saying Florida has two national champ contenders when they only have played one 6 times out a 30 years is not a valid excuse for them not leaving the state of Florida ooc in 3 decades. Jesus man

The B12 is worlds better then the sec east these last few years. Stop pretending like Florida plays 8 tough conference games. Yes the sec west is good, stop acting like sec east is.

They appear to be on a downward slope though...heck, the second place SEC west team didn't fare so well in their bowl game against the lowly Big XII champ. Save a trash time (0:00 left on the clock) touchdown against OU's second team defense, OU would have beat them more soundly than 'Bama did in 'Bama's own house.

Just sayin'.

But Florida, they skrong tho.

They still don't have to leave the state to find quality competition, which was the entire point.

Perhaps stating that instead of portraying them as playing thee other two power conference teams would serve better. But leaving the state ooc for what, 3 times in 30 years is pathetic.

I only have a problem with your OOC making you almost bowl eligible. That right there is bullshit. Two of Ole Miss's 5 wins were Wofford and Ga. Southern. :L

Miss State was 2-1 against UMass, S. Alabama and Samford. :L

Baylor isn't a fuckign bit better but they're teh exception to the rule in the Big XII.

texico/usc wouldn't ever have to leave their state either, but they do.

No, never went to Legion Field. Use to spend some weekends in Bessemer though, so I have experienced the thrill of wondering if I'm about to get robbed at any moment.

Ok, we'll stop pretending UF plays 8 tough conference games when you stop pretending the Big 12 plays even 5 tough conference games.

The B12 is worlds better then the sec east these last few years.
Says who??? Here are the Massey Computer rankings for the past 5 seasons
2016 Big 12 ranking = 1.78 & SEC East ranking = 1.74
2015 Big 12 ranking = 1.81 & SEC East ranking = 1.81
2014 Big 12 ranking = 1.83 & SEC East ranking = 1.90
2013 Big 12 ranking = 1.86 & SEC East ranking = 1.91
2012 Big 12 ranking = 1.87 & SEC East ranking = 1.98
So ONCE out if the past FIVE season has the Big 12 been rated above the SEC East.
Get over it, it's the Big 12 ain't that good!

Why do they need to leave the State of Florida to play ANY OOC games?

There are now 4 of you guys (you, tnapucco, trojanman, and jon) out there that are carping about UF scheduling. You guys seem to suffering from a misconception about scheduling and leaving one's home state.

Earlier we were discussing the time frame 2000-2016 so it's as good as any to illustrate my point.
So let's compare the schedules of UW, USC, OU, WVU and UF. That is we will look at EVERY non-bowl game for the teams!
Games played UW 203, WVU 200, OU 209, USC 206, and UF 204.

We will look at HOME games, AWAY in STATE games, and AWAY out of state.

First HOME games:
..UW: 112 games.......85 Maj.......50 Maj w/win rec.......6 FCS......34 Yr Rnk......17 T10
WVU: 112 games.......79 Maj.......47 Maj w/win rec......12 FCS......21 Yr Rnk......7 T10
..OU: 105 games.......73 Maj.......39 Maj w/win rec........3 FCS......17 Yr Rnk.......7 T10
USC: 106 games.......92 Maj.......50 Maj w/win rec........0 FCS......24 Yr Rnk.....10 T10
..UF: 110 games.......70 Maj.......45 Maj w/win rec........9 FCS......29 Yr Rnk.......8 T10
AVG: 109.0 games..79.8 Maj.....46.2 Maj w/win rec......6 FCS......25.0 Rnk......9.8 T10

UW wins this one. After that, some good and some bad for all other teams. My conclusion not much difference.

Folks complain that UF plays away games IN the state of Florida. Fine. We will throw out the 17 games vs UGa in Jax, Throw out the 9 games vs FSU in Tallahassee, and the 2 Games vs Miami in Miami. That's 28 games removed for UF. But, we will also throw out the 27 games USC played IN California at Cal, at Stanford, and at UCLA (~ 12miles away!). Likewise, we will throw out the 9 games UW played against WSU. We will also throw out the 9 games OU played at OSU and the 2 games WVU played at Marshall as those were also played in the home state.

AWAY and NEUTRAL SITE games out of state games.
..UW: 82 games.......77 Maj.......47 Maj w/win rec......0 FCS........30 Yr Rnk......15 T10
WVU: 86 games.......79 Maj.......46 Maj w/win rec......1 FCS........24 Yr Rnk......11 T10
..OU: 95 games.......88 Maj.......55 Maj w/win rec.......0 FCS.......38 Yr Rnk.......12 T10
USC: 73 games.......69 Maj.......38 Maj w/win rec........0 FCS.......26 Yr Rnk......10 T10
..UF: 66 games.......66 Maj.......45 Maj w/win rec........0 FCS.......29 Yr Rnk......17 T10
AVG: 80.4 games...75.8 Maj.....45.4 Maj w/win rec... 0.20 FCS...29.4 Rnk......13.0 T10

OU played games 15 above the average, but, those numbers are somewhat inflated by the RRS which counts every year as an "out of state game". UF played played 15 games fewer than the average, but still played the average in Maj w/ win rec, the average FCS, the average in ranked opponents, and the 4.0 above average in T10.
My conclusion, OU get the nod here, with UW, USC, UF and WVU are about average.

Now, let's look at the missing games - the AWAY but IN state games.

..UW: ..9 games........9 Maj.........2 Maj w/win rec.......0 FCS.........1 Yr Rnk.......1 T10
WVU: ..2 games........0 Maj.........0 Maj w/win rec.......0 FCS.........0 Yr Rnk.......0 T10
..OU: ..9 games........9 Maj.........8 Maj w/win rec.......0 FCS..........5 Yr Rnk.......1 T10
USC: 27 games.......27 Maj.......15 Maj w/win rec........0 FCS.........6 Yr Rnk.......4 T10
..UF: 28 games.......28 Maj.......26 Maj w/win rec........0 FCS........21 Yr Rnk......15 T10
AVG: 15.0 games....14.6 Maj....10.2 Maj w/win rec.. .0 FCS.........6.60 Rnk.......3.6 T10

WVU loses this one going away (only 2 games against Marshall). UF wins this one hands down. UF played more Major teams with winning records than the other 4 combined, played more year ranked teams than the other 4 combined, and played more T10 teams than the other 4 combined.

The entire schedules for these four teams:

..UW: ..203 games........171 Maj.........99 Maj w/win rec.........6 FCS.........65 Yr Rnk.......33 T10
WVU: ..200 games........158 Maj.........93 Maj w/win rec.......13 FCS.........45 Yr Rnk.......18 T10
..OU: ..209 games........170 Maj........102 Maj w/win rec........3 FCS..........60 Yr Rnk.......20 T10
USC: ..206 games........188 Maj........103 Maj w/win rec........0 FCS..........56 Yr Rnk.......24 T10
..UF: ..204 games........164 Maj........112 Maj w/win rec........9 FCS..........79 Yr Rnk.......37 T10
AVG: .204.75 games....170 Maj.......102.5 Maj w/win rec......6.25 FCS......60.0 Rnk........24.75 T10

I don't see anything here that suggests that UF "needs" to change its scheduling.

I'm guessing Home for most games, with the Iron Bowl being the exception until 89 when Auburn home games were played in Auburn.

Use the here and now clown. Not rankings from 2012 that show the sec is better because of Massey. Last year the B12 was indeed better then the SEC east. An lol at thinking UF has 8 good opponents on their schedule.

But the point still stands the UF leaving the state of Florida once every decade for an ooc game is pathetic. Yes yes, you play FSU. The point still stands. You have four out of conference games and yet you have only left the state for them once in a decade?? GTFO

Whats funny about this conversation is Florida fan keeps giving us that Florida plays FSU every season so thats why they just play Troy-Mercer-Charleston Southern type teams always at home to fillout their OCC schedule and an excuse for why the school apparently hasn't flown for a OCC game since you could smoke on airplanes. But Florida State doesn't see playing Florida as reason why they can't or shouldn't go play over 22 road OCC games since Florida played it's last.

Props to FSU
Florida- pussy OCC scheduling
