Texas and USC have a huge advantage. Both have deep alumni, pockets. Both have a shit ton of Xplayers, coaching HS football, throughout, their states.

USC, had a great national recruiting base. They've lost a lot of that but look at Clemson. 10 years ago, they never got kids outside of SC, Georgia and Florida. But USC and texASS have all the instate talent, to fill multiple rosters.

I came close to putting both those schools in the Top 10, and, long-term, they would probably be there. But I am looking at current & near-term probabilities, not 6 to 10 years in the future. I'm really not sure Florida belongs, either, but they are tracking in the right direction.

How is this list approached? As a new coach coming into the job? Or the overall appeal and what the job has to offer?

because if it's a new coach looking for a job, I wouldn't want to go to Alabama following Saba's foot steps, in fact Alabama and Clemson would be much lower if that were the case.

With the right coach & assistants, things should keep rolling right along, much like they appear to be doing at Ohio St. since Urb's departure.

Saban's Bama program is past its apogee; those who deny it have blinders on.

You can't stop thinking of me.....it is kind of creepy

Sorry, but anytime someone starts a thread about top coaching destinations, you claiming Mizzou was a top job always pops into my head. Nothing personal.

Oregon has no business on the list and Michigan is still a top 10 job even though Harbaugh isn't doing anything with it.

Programs that have fallen in desirability:
Nebraska
Penn State
FSU
Washington
Tennessee
Miami

Programs that would be considered the next 10 (in no particular order):
Wisconsin
Auburn
Texas A&M
Stanford
Tennesee
FSU
Washington
Penn State
Miami - In danger of dropping out of top 20
Oregon
it says going into 2020 not all time. going into 2020 it makes sense Oregon is on there. Conference champs Rose Bowl winners top 5 ranking #12 recruiting class

The greatest arms race bargain in recent years? Washington's thrifty $1 million locker room upgrade at Husky Stadium prior to the 2017 season was terrific, highlighted by 1.1 miles of purple LEDs. “It’s like a spaceship in there," defensive tackle Greg Gaines told the Seattle Times. "It’s definitely the coolest locker room I’ve ever been in." Washington's Husky Stadium debuted a massive $280M renovation in 2013 featuring new locker rooms, weight rooms and a training center and thus far, those enhancements have stood the rest of (relatively short) time.

Not too bad

Oregon isn't a top 10 coaching job in any year.

Am I the only person that doesn’t get how Georgia has so much talent in state and hasn’t won a title in forever?

I would argue Iowa be somewhere...

They pay well
Don't fire you after a few bad seasons - great loyalty and stability
In the weaker B1G division
Kinnick Stadium is pretty intense
You are not living near a major metropolis. It is peaceful living.
You are the big dog - No NFL teams and ISU is still little brother.
