My latest haul:

First Allagash sour I've come across in stores. Very drinkable.

Haven't tried yet.

Usually buy Yeti at least once a year. It was one of the first things I bought (along with DFH Burton Baton) when I turned 21 and I was blown away.

This one really surprised me. One of the most refreshing beers I've ever had. Only wish I could have had this in the summer.

I especially can't wait to try this one.

Did try this yesterday:

I didn't look at the date until after I got home (was bottled 2/25/15), but it held up pretty well. Would love to try some fresher bottles. Just wish they were available in NJ, or I'd make this a go to beer.

Had some Allagash Curieux again. I'll gladly buy this several times a year. I also bought a 1.5L bottle of Interlude for the holidays. And another bottle of BCBS. I'll try to buy a french press before I crack it open.

Broke into my case of Bourbon County Stout tonight and I'm liking this vintage even more the more I try it. Still not 2010 quality, but it's great and there may be more out there if you don't have any yet.

The Funky Gold Mosaic isn't necessarily the best sour I've had, but it might be my favorite. Just delicious and very drinkable.

For now...

ChristmasBomb-1024x394.jpg

rest of my latest haul (gotta say, Prairie might be my new favorite brewery)
Prairie Hop
Prairie Flare
Prairie BOMB! (better than BCBS IMO)
Prairie Standard
Alpine Hoppy Birthday
Evil Twin Ryan and the Beaster Bunny (I should have bought the Justin Blabaer, just for the bottle)
Almanac Saison De Brettaville
Oskar Blues Ten Fidy
Schlafly Tasmanian IPA

scratch what I said about the Tulsa Rugby Ale. I didn't realize they dated their beers 1-365.

@navamind Prairie Bomb! is no longer barrel aged, right? Tough to compare it to BCBS if that's true. I do agree though that BCBS has dropped a little in perfection. 2010 was incredible. I bought a case and it was gone in a year.

I've been busy traveling and working lately, but finally got a chance to imbibe some tonight.

Meh. Picked up on a whim in SoCal and it was good, not great. Some of the best beers I've ever had have been barrel aged stouts with spices and cocoa, etc. This one though, while smelling incredible, fell flat. Thin body, tasty but light vanilla/coffee/spice flavors, and only a 3 month barrel age. Fremont Brewing's Coffee Cinnamon Bourbon Barrel aged Abominable (CC-Bomb) is miles above this, and I've had other beers that trump that.

I'm cheating in order because I'm drinking this now and I've always loved the Revolution stuff. This is their best by far though. So perfectly balanced between sweet, bitter, and unctuous. A balanced 13% BA barleywine is tough to do. These guys kill it.

1010715_846250071505_7694112217231429912_n.jpg

So this is probably my favorite beer on the planet, and I had it before the last one posted. Even as local as I am to these guys, and given the fact that I know their distro rep personally, I can hardly get my hands on 1 bottle a year. It's 10% abv and I can easily drink a gallon or two in a sitting if given the chance. (I've had those chances) It's just stupid good. That's all.

Cheers!

Not sure about barrel aged Bomb! Never seen it. Just reading the reviews for it makes my mouth water.

Finally got to try something from Hill Farmstead. Eddies Roadhouse in upstate NY gets all sorts of craft beers, sometimes stuff from Maine Beer Co/Hill Farmstead/etc. Someone told me they even had Founders CBS (!) on tap last weekend. Mary (their pilsner), which was quite nice. Also had a little Carton Brewing Boat. Wish this were available in 6-packs nearby, it would make a fantastic go to.

Hill Farmstead is legit though can be tough to get out in the middle of nowhere.

I actually won a bottle of Ann in an online lottery. Cost me $36. That's a beer that sells for hundreds in the secondary market. Still have it in the cellar. Arthur is a great saison if you can find it.

I heard the Evan Williams Single Barrel is pretty good as well. Once this bottle of Weller 12 is gone I might have to find out.

Found this in the cellar tonight looking for something after a bunch of ipas.

Still interesting but I just don't think the Rum sweetness blends with a stout very well. It's just a little too sweet for me. I really prefer the character bourbon brings to a stout as opposed to something like this.

re Prairie Bomb!: Cool that they're bringing back a barrel aged version. Hopefully it hits distro like the current non BA Bomb! has. What I was talking about though, was Bomb! back in in 2013/14 was only barrel aged and wax capped. I just didn't realize til recently that the version they were distributing nation wide was not barrel aged.

Nice. Hoping upstate NY gets some of the BA in stock. Would like to see Coffee Okie as well.

Currently drinking this:

Schells 155. It's a medium bodied amber-more hoppy and not as quite as smooth as you would expect from an amber ale but not bad at all.

It is very good. For the money I like the 1783 better, but it holds its own with some much more expensive single barrels.

ugghhhh. the nearest store that carries Prairie said BA Bomb came in and sold out in a day. :/ they still have a bunch of Backwoods Bastard (!) though. Might have to buy a couple 4 packs, I only have one bottle left.

Can't wait to try Clown Shoes The Barista. Guessing it'll be somewhat similar to Port Brewing's Board Meeting (which I loved; I have another bottle at home that's about 6 months old).

recent purchases:

Prairie Gold (pretty good, much prefer Mosaic gold though)
Founders Azacca (haven't tried yet)
Great Divide Hercules DIPA (had a couple years ago, but I don't really remember it and I don't think it was fresh; this one is bottled 12/28/15)
Ballast Point Victory At Sea (had before, easily the best porter I've ever had)
AleSmith Speedway Stout (can't wait to try)
Clown Shoes Moses and the Misfits
21st Amendment Lower De Boom (never saw a canned barleywine until now)
Alpine Duet
Oskar Blues Hotbox
Weyerbacher Insanity
