Great point. I've thought the same thing with regards to false start, delay of game, and holding penalties inside the 5 yard line. Rather than penalize half the distance (which doesn't really hurt all that much), extend the line to gain by whatever amount the penalty should have been. So if it's first and 10 from the 2, and you get called for holding, rather than marching the offense back a yard and making it first and 11 from the one, move the sticks 10 yards down field and make it first and 20 from the 2 instead. Is there a way this rule can be revisited somehow? This ended up being a 2.5 yard penalty which really seems like an awkward stance given what transpired here. 1st and 20 would make more sense from the 5 or whatever it was, imo.
The hit was ok but dropping and leading with the helmet was stupid and uncalled for. A fine was appropriate and not a suspension.
LOL How is it okay to hit the returner before the ball arrives?
Was what they said during the game wrong then? They said you can't block a defender behind the play coming back to the ball...or some shit like that...He wasn't the returner....
I was OK with the whole play.

Really? Looks as if he's about to try to field a punt.

He was a gunner not a returner.
It WAS the on air ref that said that...Shows you that the play by play guys and the "on air ref" don't always know what they are talking about.
Like the jack hat who watched Brady try to score on replay and couldn't see the ball on his inside hip as that same hip crossed the pylon.....

Agree. That is why I asked. I was wondering if his comment was determined to be incorrect. My thinking was he tried to hurt him and hit him high and was basically a dick on the play...so 15 yards for being a dick seems fair...I realize.
But they do not always get it right.
