You don't need a computer to figure out who has a tougher SOS.

Plus SOS isn't everything. A team can have the same record, a tougher SOS but still be a worse team.

Every Media outlet uses the AP and Coaches when talking about rankings. Very few if any at all use Computers. To me that means they are more meaningful.

Computers miss out on other important factors.

That's where we're different. I want a more concise, derived figure. I don't want it based on someone who thinks team A played a tougher schedule than team B. I bet it would take you a while to try and figure out who had the toughest schedule in 2013 out of the teams that finished in the top 25.

I don't give a shit they were mentioned. You were trying to compare them to Auburn of last year. All I said was that Auburn deserved that label much more than Ohio State at this point. I even said they can win out earlier in this thread. Will it be enough I doubt it. Hence why I though the comparison to Auburn was unjustified. Based on past performance and the potential of the future schedule.

I didn't compare them to Auburn you did.

I mentioned that Auburn wasn't ranked and neither was Michigan St. at this point in the year and they ended up in the top 4 by seasons end. At that point is when you went on a rustle comparison parade bringing up meaningless computer polls and other dumb bullshit .

My Point was that a lot can happen.

Thats where you are different from most everyone that matters.

Let me also point out that I have heard that committee will take conference champions very much into consideration as well.

Last year this time everyone ranked 10 - 20 pretty much had a chance to finish in the top four as well.

Taking the average of the 5 computer polls:

1. Auburn: .9760
2. Mississippi: .9120
3. Mississippi State: .8560
4. Florida State: .8160
5. Notre Dame: .7600
6. Alabama: .7280
T7. Baylor: .6800
T7 Texas A&M: .6800
9. TCU: .6480
10. Oklahoma: .6080
11. Arizona: .5840
12. Oregon: .5520
13. UCLA: .5440
T14: Michigan State: .4080
T14: UGA: .4080
16. Georgia Tech: .3760
17. Nebraska: .2560
18. Ohio State: .2400
19. Florida: .2320
20. Stanford: .2240
T21. Marshall: .2000
T21. LSU: .2000
T23. Oklahoma State: .1280
T23. Arizona State: .1280
T25. Clemson: .1200
T25. California: .1200

Of Note: Texas A&M and Nebraska are the only schools to have played 6 games that are ranked in this poll so their numbers are somewhat inflated due to an extra win.

If computers are better because they factor is scientific SOS numbers why is Marshall ranked ahead of LSU, Okie St, ect......?

Kind of blows your whole theory doesn't it ?

Is it because Marshall is undefeated?

Not really. I'd say it enhances that fact. LSU and Marshall are tied in the computers because LSU has played a much harder schedule. Also Marshall is the lowest ranked undefeated team because of their shitty schedule. Thanks for proving my point.

I notice you completely ignored Okie St.

Using SOS, Okie St shouldn't be lower than marshal along with many other teams so it doesn't prove your point at all.

It completely destroys it.

BTW, the AP and Coaches do notice SOS and do not have Marshall ahead of Okie St.

Thanks for playing.

Okie State has a loss, Marshall does not. You've still proven nothing.

Stength of Schedule. Wasn't that your whole point with computers?

You don't even remember what you were arguing anymore.

I just proved that computers don't do a better job factoring it in and are even more meaningless than I had originally thought.

Yes, it was my point. SMU has played the 2nd toughest SOS, they suck, and therefore should be ranked in the 120's like they are. Again, you have proved absolutely nothing. FWIW, Okie State and Marshall both have SOS's in the 110+ range. Your problem is you think Okie State has played a good schedule and they actually haven't.

Basically Okie State has played a slightly better schedule. Splitting hairs really, and has a loss, that's why the computers have Marshall slightly ahead. Also you're comparing a brand name with fucking Marshall. Okie State will always get the benefit of the doubt in the polls. Which is the problem.
