Dempsey's miss had to be intentional. 2-0 once again.

Mexico now in 5th. If they don't beat Panama on 10/11 they are out of the World Cup. Even if they tie they'd need to make up goal differential on the road in Costa Rica, with Panama at home against the USA.

I'm thoroughly enjoying their situation.

After a day of laughing at the state of Mexican soccer, I came to a realization.

CONCACAF is for the most part crap. If we don't have Mexico in the World Cup, and teams like Panama and Honduras stink up the joint, there's a risk of FIFA taking away a spot in future World Cups. I think it's best for the region if Mexico does qualify.

Now, back to laughing my ass off.

On the other hand, given how Mexico is playing right now, what makes you think that they would do any better than anyone else from CONCACAF in the cup?

It is important that the CONCACAF teams do well once the cup begins. Right now we have 3.5 bids. We would have to do exceptionally well to get more than that. But a slightly poor showing could drop us down to 3 bids and give the 0.5 to one of the other groups.

Hehe. We have to be team CONCACAF just like the college football situation.

On the other hand, given how Mexico is playing right now, what makes you think that they would do any better than anyone else from CONCACAF in the cup?.

Because they still have a lot of good/young talent. As much as I'm enjoying their situation now, I'm sure they'll be back to form. By next year I think they would have a much better chance of reaching the round of 16 than Panama or Honduras. They can start by kissing Carlos Vela's feet.
