I was reading the worldwide leader's story on the selection and it said Oshie and Wheeler narrowly edged out Brandon Saad - I can't believe Bobby Ryan wasn't selected and the fact he's not even in consideration as an injury replacement.

This team was orchestrated with more of a focused approach obviously...didn't simply take the highest scoring guys, tried to build a "complete" team, with grinders, etc. That's evident when a guy like Callahan makes it over a guy like Ryan. Hopefully that approach works...so on forward I can understand it. Still, going to continually complain about Yandle.

Apparently there was a few guys on the selection committee who thought he didn't fit on the team. Said he skated "sleepy". WTF? Said he wasn't a top 2 line guy, didn't play hard enough for third/fourth line, couldn't PK, wasn't part of top PP units. Thirty. Goals.

Yup. No blazing speed but he plays all out all the time. 3rd most goals of any US player this season.

The guy is a game breaker and he will be missed.

How many GMs have actually built a "complete" team. I can think of one obviously...

What's the point of having a complete team for what at most amounts to 6 or 7 games - on a large ice surface you don't need fourth line energy guys if you ask me - you need skaters and scorers and maybe a hot goalie.

The whole team are skaters though. I suppose that's the one thing Ryan doesn't have an excess of...and apparently it kept him from the team. Big ice, lots of speed.

^^Insanely long and in depth article about the selection process.
