I don't understand how you guys who are used to being in the tourney pick your brackets. I can convince myself that we can beat anyone

Yep. IMO, you have to have at least 1 bracket where your team wins it all, no matter who you are.

But my general rule
1-2 seed: all the way
3-4 seed: final four
5-6 seed: elite eight
7-9 seed:sweet 16
10-15 seed: round of 32

or something like that

who cares about your bracket. I never put in more than 10/20 bucks and that's more of a donation to the likely winner because I haven't filled out a bracket since 1992 that didn't have Arizona winning the whole damn thing. Besides, of course, the year we weren't in the tourney.

I got it right once, too! 84-79 in OT, baby!

Well, you can put me in the "no faith in Louisville" camp, I think they are a SS maybe EE team, but I don't see them going past that. Having said that, 0% chance that Louisville goes down in the 1st round. Pitino lords over former assistants and I doubt Masielo will be an exception. Don't believe me? Ask Billy Donovan. (though I think Florida would annihilate Louisville right now)

I'll take Louisville getting 5 or more points any day of week. Mentor against former play at PC. Pitino might get into Billy the Kid's head

I think UC wins. Harvard is good, but not as good as they were last year when they upset NM.

The lack of size will hurt Harvard, who doesn't rebound particularly well, and UC does. Especially on the offensive side where UC was 26th in the nation on offensive rebounds, and Harvard was 200-something. That negates a lot of UC's lack of offense when you get 2-3 extra shots at times to make a basket. Not something to take lightly when you consider UC typically gives up a lot of height to other teams. Jackson is only 6'8", and is their tallest player with regular time. Harvard goes 6'7" with the regular lineup...in a nuetral height game like that, I like UC's chances to pressure the ball, grab rebounds, and use that to pull away late.

Yah, I am starting to lean towards Cincy the closer we get. I think there will be plenty of upsets but it seems like the more sure upsets they are selecting could be actually very wrong.

Ill always take the more physical, bigger and faster team than the slow, methodical, fundamentally sound team

Yah, me too. But that has fucked me so many times in the past. Ohh well, it's one loss where the other team pretty much as to shoot lights out.

What about Steven F Austin over VCU?? VCU is without their 3rd best scorer.

What games you think have a great chance at being upsets??

I'm not counting 9 seeds over 8 seeds.

I got:

12 Harvard over 5 Cincy

11 Nebraska over 6 Baylor

12 NC State/Xavier over 5 St Louis

11 Iowa/Tennessee over 6 U Mass

After looking at matchups I have changed my upsets picks a bit and feel pretty confident. Here they are:

12 Harvard over 5 Cincy - it was a tough decision, but Harvard has been hot and for me this wouldn't matter too much since I have Michigan State moving to Sweet 16 anyway.

I actually have Baylor now winning. Too much size and length, rebounds are going to be a big key.

12 NC State over 5 St Louis - Warren is one of the best players in college basketball and Lewis has impressed. If they double him they have guys that can make shots.

11 Iowa/Tennessee over 6 UMass - I think the winner of this just overmatched for UMass.

12 North Dakota State over 5 Oklahoma - This is one I have debated and North Dakota St is one of the most efficient shooting teams in the country, but have they seen a defense like Oklahoma. We will see.

10 Arizona St over 7 Texas - Carson is key player if he plays well I think they have a good chance to win.

12 Stephen F Austin over 5 VCU - this is one I had VCU the whole time. But is my off-the-wall pick.

So it is weird to have all 12 seeds over all the 5 seeds, but if there is a year for it to happen it is this year.

I got all that but disagree with VCU and Oklahoma. Oklahoma might not be amazing but they have the ability to play well, same with VCU, both are due for a first round tournament win.

Edit: And Cincy, Harvard is playing really well but Cincy is a tough team.

Only one I changed was VCU. I took Stephen F Austin and then changed back to VCU.

I don't like Oklahoma's defense though ao keeping that one.

yeah but OU is one of the highest scoring teams in the Country and can score from every posistion. They finished alone in 2nd place in the toughest conference. I think they get by the first and second rounds.

I'm good with the Vols advancing to the Round of 32. UMass doesn't impress me.
