Thoughts on 2 trade proposals:

I want to keep this objective, so here goes. Any insight on these deals as to where they might lie on the fairness scale in your minds would be greatly appreciated. Neither of these trades were accepted, but the proposals started a heated exchange.

13 team roto, 5x5. Team B has stated that they are looking to deal excess saves and or speed for some power.

Team A offers: Marlon Byrd, Jonathan LuCroy and Alex Rodriguez

for

Starling Marte and Koji Uehara from team B.

Team B counters with: Nate McLouth and Tom Wilhelmsen

for LuCroy and Byrd

Are either of these offers reasonable? If so, which one(s) and why?

Does team B need help at catcher? If so, then I'd say both trades are reasonable....especially the second one. Neither are veto-able imo (if that's what you're ultimately trying to determine).

Tough to gauge A-Rod right now. Can't blame the guy for trying to sell him, but I'd do the same (rejecting) as B. The counter offer is close. Off the top, it may look like an overpayment for a catcher and a guy playing over his head, but who's to say McLouth isn't playing over his head?

I don't think either offer should be causing such chaos.

The second trade seems pretty even. The first trade, I think Marte and Uehera is the better gain, but it's nothing unreasonable, although I don't think A-Rod will be a factor. Then again, I cannot stand the man, so i'm biased there.

Team B has S. Perez at catcher. LuCroy would be a mild upgrade (maybe).

Neither of these trades were accepted, so there was no discussion about vetoes. Both owners thought that they were on the receiving end of crap offers.

Team A brustled at the counter offer, starting the exchange.

Offer 1 is pathetic
Offer 2 is a reasonable offer made as a counter.

Excuse by bluntness. :)

Forget ARod's suspension issues, he looks done anyway.
He's WW fodder. So is Byrd (and Wilhemson likely)
I don't see any league where Lucroy gets you Marte, let alone Uehara thrown in

Lol! I think your bluntness is great; one of these days i'll stop trying to be so diplomatic.

That was my thought. I am team B. I am not the type of owner to get offended by trade offers, however unattractive. We are all trying to improve our teams. Thing is I swallowed my pride, made what I thought to be a reasonable counter, and he said this in response:

No way I am selling low and downgrading from LuCroy and Byrd who are both on fire. No interest in McLouth or Wilhelmsen.

Thing is, I don't really have much interest in LuCroy or Byrd, but I see that they produce the stats that I need, so why not? I am not going to offer McLouth and Wilhelmsen for a player like Marte (who by the way is 24 on the Y! player rater) because that would be a crap deal.
