I'm ok with the 1st, Gustavsson may hurt later on, at least it wasn't Jarry
Yeah seems like a decent deal for both sides. I thought the Pens might keep some ammo on hand to go after a winger but it's pretty bare now.

Ian Cole going the other way also

Trading Cole does open a bit of a hole on the blue line, because Hunwick hasn't been very good, but Carter Rowney was a terrible 4C, and this allows them to move Sheahan to that spot. There's a chance Hunwick figures things out, though, since his skill set should, theoretically, play well in the Pens' system, but I'd rather have another option.

Admittedly I have not really been paying attention to his season. But is everyone all excited about the same Derrick Brassard who is an insufferable douche with a jaw and shoulder made of glass?

I get that when you give a Pens fan a piece of rope, they are suddenly a cowboy, but this seems over the top for Brasshole.

(caveat - not here necessarily. Another forum where every Pens fan is now posting "three-peat")

I'd rather have Ruhwedel there instead, honestly. Still I imagine GMJR will be in the market for a Cole replacement.

To be honest I think he can help the team down the middle and it allows Sheahan to play less minutes on the 4th line but I was never a fan of Brassard. Sort of meh to me but I'm glad Ottawa ate some salary in the deal.

I hope he's grown up, and there's no doubt of the talent. The problem when he was here is that he felt like he was drafted to be a #1C, and got all pissy whenever someone else was in that role. First Vermette, Then Carter. He got really pissy when they drafted Johansen.

I don't imagine he's going to give the Pens shit with Crosby and Malkin there (even he can't be delusional enough to believe he should play instead of them), and Sullivan will get a lot out of him because he's a wizard. But he is not a key ingredient on his best day. Role player and asshole.

Yeah not too thrilled over Brassard but it is a huge upgrade at C. Now the question will Brassard be willing to block shots and play with a broken ankle (ala..Bonino) and will any D man be willing to take a puck off the face while blocking shots (ala.. Cole)

FYI..The Penguins now officially won't have a 1st rd pick for 4 years in a row.
Since Crosby and Malkin the only 1st Rd Pick drafted/playing for the Penguins is Olli Maatta.

WHY DO TEAMS KEEP DOING THIS FOR PITTSBURGH?!

“We’re not going to whine here. Pittsburgh can whine. Pittsburgh whines enough for the whole league, so there’s no room for any other team to whine. We’ll just go about our business.”

:D
